Would P90X be right for me?

Stress and schoolwork has caused me to gain quite a bit of weight since this same time last year, about 20 pounds, even though I'm involved in sports and other activities.

I'm really interested in P90X though.
I'm looking to firm up, add muscle to all parts of my body, just not my legs.

Would P90X be worth the time everyday and money as well?
I know it's kind of pricey.
Just looking for some recommendations and personal experiences.

I did a search and I don't believe this has been discussed, unless it was in one of the superthreads. But thanks in advance.

And just curious, I know there is no "lose weight quick," but do you think I'd be able to drop a good 20 pounds of fat by summer time?

Just IMO...

The reason that P90X is so effective is because it's INTENSE. It's a hard-core one hour workout each day, two a day if you're using the doubles program. When I was doing it I started to see results in a week or two, but for the full results it does take 90 days. I don't know for you specifically whether you could drop 20lbs before summer or not, but it would definitely help you tone up.

The only thing is that I stopped doing the workouts because I found it really hard to commit to working out on my own. It was way better than going to a gym, but still hard to motivate myself. I now dance 4x/week and run when I can, and I toss in a P90X workout when I can. If you're disciplined, though, go for it!

I know a ton of people on here have done it, so I'm sure some of the others have valuable input, too.

It is a 90 day, 6 days a week commitment in order to get proper results. I lost 20 lbs when I did the program. I am now going to the gym instead(my needs have changed), and it takes me 2 hours at the gym to achieve what P90X was doing for me in an hour.

Well I probably would be "done" with the program midway into summer or around then. I might not be able to completely drop 20 lbs. between now and summer, but I'd get partway there. The only thing I'm worried about now, I guess, is the time-commitment.

You sound like you've been successful though!
It's hard for me to make it to the gym all the time; so I had to cancel my membership.

Ah I see. It seems pretty intense so maybe I'll get it and give it a shot.

P90

I did the slim in six program from the same beachbody.com website. The program is a six week program that is one workout six days a week there are three workouts and you do one for 1-2 weeks the next for 2 weeks and the last for 2 weeks, and they average about 50 min. This program at least for me didn't add bulk but thinned me out and toned me up. I am not sure the amount of weight I lost but I definately looked the best I felt comfortable going to vegas and laying out in my bikini after 2 babies, so I know it did something.
