I have a lot of problems with foot pain, and my foot doctor recommended Asics and New Balance for having the best support/being the best for feet in general and I bought a pair of each and wore them walking and running all around Europe last year and they were both great!

I have Asics GT-2120, and NB 643 (and they are a really nice brown/tan combo!!!)

I wear Nike. The newer models have a place you can put a chip in. The chip transmits to a reciever you put in your ipod. It tells you how far and fast you go. Many other things too, like calories burned. You upload the information to the web site. It's really cool. The shoes are comfortable too.

I have Under Armour Proto Speed trainer. It's great for lateral movements and allows good flexibility in the front area.

Not sure if they make them anymore but the Nike Zoom Jasari is by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever put on my feet. I've been running in mine for over a year and they definitely make it easier to do just about anything in them.

I have the Asics GT 2120 and a pair of Asics Gel Kayano 14 (I think it is 14). I trained for and ran a half marathon in the Gel Kayano's and they were comfortable. I was also told to maximize comfort with insoles. If I ever do another half I will definitely check into the insoles. I loathe running so it will take a miracle to get me to train for and run another one!!

If you run regularly, you should replace your shoes fairly often. I have read 300-500mi as a good limit.
This is about six months for regular runners (3-4x/week, 3-5mi per run). If you're training for a full marathon, ideally you would replace your shoes even more often.

Asics

Hi everyone! This is my 1st time to visit this board! My husband & I own 2 health clubs. And he is a certified PT & never misses a workout (only takes Sun off & will even w/o on a holiday!), he swears by Asics too. And according to most of the fitness mags those are supposed to be the best!

Don't fall for Nike (Nike +) with the nano gimmick. It's just a way to suck your money. IF you really want that calculated, get a heart rate monitor. Nikes are NOT good running shoes.

you DO NOT have to wear nike's with the nike+. you just need to secure them to whatever sneakers you are wearing and calibrate it properly. i use mine with my new balances.

heart rate monitors don't log the distance you ran and once calibrated, the nike+ is a good device for logging your distances and pace. if you already use an ipod when you run, it is convenient to use the nike+.

yes, the shoes plus the nike+ device is a gimmick, but i found that the nike+ was extraordinarily helpful for my 1/2 marathon training.

Nike's are NOT all garbage. I am an overpronator:

Overpronation Running

and after being fed up with having shin split after shin splint, I consulted with a sports medicine doctor who video taped me running on a treadmill and was able to determine that. He told me that I needed to run only on shoes that provide the adequate support for the mechanics of my feet.

I then looked up and went to my local Running Company and they introduced me to the Nike Bowerman Series running shoes.

Today I run half-marathons on my Nike Air Structure Triax+ 11, Bowerman Series with no sign of shin spints or any other injuries.

People can recommend running shoes all day long, but with so many variables involved, everyone's feet are different, and so their selection for shoes should be too.

Just my 2 cents.....

ETA: Oh, and my Triax+ are Nike+ ready, but I don't bother to use it. For marathons, I wear a wrist GPS that keeps accurate track of speed, distance, etc.
