Men's shirts for the tall and thin

I have the toughest time finding anything from button shirts to t shirts that fit my 6 ft 160 lbs frame. Traditional mediums are too short and billowy at the waist(even the medium slim) Medium tall is too long in the sleeves. Arrghh any recommendations on brands? MTM is too expensive.

How do you prefer your shirts to fit? Snug? Loose? Somewhere in between?

I prefer snug I almost need like a small/tall, but they don't usually make that size. I guess any other tall thin guys out there? What brands do you buy?

What brands do you get now that you find to have medium's that are too billowy at the bottom and don't fit you right? I'm also 6' and ~165lbs and don't have much problems finding stuff. I find I just have to try everything on, even if it's the same brand and supposedly same cut. After trying on and depending on the overall cut I can get medium or large in most stuff. Normally I only go for a large if it's slim fit or athletic cut, a medium in that cut I can't move my shoulders without feeling like the hulk about to break my shirt sometimes.

Ooh, I'd love to hear anyone else's 2 cents in this thread: My husband is 6'1" and weighs even less than you do. He has the WORST time finding clothes that fit! (he prefers fitted)

Sometimes he has luck in H&M but their clothes don't always hold up very well.

Some brands and general fit for me

GAP/BR - Mediums are too short and billowy. Slim is better, but a hair short. large is just too big. I hit jackpot on BR Medium Tall SLIM fit T shirts though. Probably my best fitting Ts.
H&M - Mediums are slim enough, but too short in the back. Large too big.
Express -Mediums are close, but a bit puffy at the waist
American Apparel Ts and Henleys - Mediums fit well, however if I'm careless and throw it in the dryer, it shrinks too much and it's game over for that shirt
Kenneth Cole/Calvin Klein/ whatever other Macy's brands- Terrible fit. To big all over except for sleeve length

Those are the recent brands I've tried

I've had good luck with Diesel, I own several of these shirts:
Diesel T-GUIPO-RS Dye Jersey S/S Polo Grey - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways

...and a few of these, too:
Diesel Tev Jersey Polo Shirt Dark Grey - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways

You could also consider Fossil "Vintage Fit" snap front shirts like these. I have a few, both short and long sleeve versions:
FOSSIL - watches, handbags, accessories, and apparel - www.fossil.com

For basic SS t-shirts, these have been the best I've found:
Short Sleeve T-Shirts | Luxury Menswear and Underwear from Sunspel

FWIW, I'm 6'1" and 171 lbs.

I thought that Diesel t-shirts (not sure about the polonecks) are quite short. My husband likes some of their designs but XL is too wide and too short for him, ALWAYS.

If you're not so sure about if the shirt will fit you or not and are too afraid of buying expensive shirts online I would try the swedish brand called John Henric www.johnhenric.com they've got reasonable prices and free global shipping.. maybe worth checking out for you

I would look at some options with custom fitted shirts or simply buying a shirt and taking it to get tailored.

Finding perfect cloths is really a tough task. I think do not copy anyone’s style and fashion. Two people are not always same in physique. Wear clothes according to your personality and create your own fashion that suits best for you.

I agree with Diesel_fan. I too prefer to pot for American Apparel Ts and Henleys as it offers a great fit.

Tallboys Apparel

Oh man tell me about it! I had this problem forever, so I ended up just making the perfect T-shirt for tall men myself.

I added extra length but kept the chest fitted. Used premium cotton too

I can't wear any other T-shirts now!

Its quite tough to get the shirts for taller persons. It will be more hard for you to search them at traditional shops, instead you must search on web at online shops so you will get instant results. I can recommend some famous brands for shirts like Rig Anthony, Lee Men, UCB, etc. These are the brands that have all size shirts, I hope you will get exactly what you want.

Cool Tallboys Apparel is set on providing the best clothing solution for the taller male

Like most tall boys, finding clothes that fit is an ongoing problem. Pants always too short, shirts too baggy, sleeves not long enough, the list goes on..

Fueled by the desire to escape the unsatisfying 9-5 lifestyle, I set out to fill this void in the market creating a business manufacturing and distributing clothes for tall boys like myself.

Deciding T-shirts were the best place to start, I started getting local professionals on board with my ‘t-shirts for tall men’ concept and before long I had my first sample. I named it the 'Tallboy Tee', the perfect T-Shirt for tall men.

Tallboy Tees are just the beginning. We currently have various other patterns in the works and aim to produce a whole range of products from long length jeans to tall dress shirts.

Custom Clothing

Ideally, everyone would love to wear tailor-made clothes, but if you can’t do that, the cleaners work just as well, you just have to understand your size.
Well this is what i feel. Why not give it a try?
