So two main sets of photos. First one's in the sun, represents the color of the jeans better, though the blue is a bit brighter IRL. Second shot is in the shade, shows fading better.

5 months, first wash today. Washed them in a small bucket with about a gallon of water. First two gallons were hot water with some organic soap, second two gallons with just plain cold water. Sun dried in the backyard.
Pre: 5 months pre-wash front 5 months pre-wash back 5 months pre-wash back pockets 5 months pre-wash honeycombs

9 months: 9 months front 9 months back
10 months-ish: 10 months front 10 months back
I also got my jeans hemmed (chain-stitched) 2 and a half inches at Atsui Japan. Got tired of so much stacking, plus the original owner had these tapered without a chain stitch so I wasn't getting any roping effect.
Chainstitch
11 months-ish: 11 months front 11 months back
12 months ish (only about 11 months of wear) + another wash: one year front one year back

Well I'll be honest with you...They both look a little strange fitting, but that is likely due to the fact that you JUST put them on. While the grey jeans are interesting, I could never picture myself wearing them. The idea of a clasp would have me worried as I would expect it to break in the early stages if they are tight. It will be interesting to see how they turn out.

I think the SSDBS fit a little bit better because they are nice and snug right now so they should stretch to a fitted look. Again, another thing I could never picture myself wearing as a faded black jean looks pretty nasty compared to the beauty of a faded indigo jean. I would think you would have no problem unloading those if you so desired.

Like I said, I'd love to see how they turn out but if you are 100% satisfied, it is better to sell now before you crease them up and they lose their value. No point in wearing something you don't like for 6+ months 7 days a week!

I really dig the fit of the SS's.
Looks like the Academi jean is just made to be a relaxed fit. While it looks a bit fitted or regular on the waist, the legs are still wide in comparison. Good regular fit though....curious to see how they'd evolve.

Are you gonna keep em? Or return and prepair for FG? Keep in mind the FG and BB dont come out till July-August, so you still have a good 6-7 months to give some good wear to 1 pair of jeans.

I would really like to see how the SSDBS turn out.

Should send those Academi back IMO. To baggy in the legs for me.

So I returned the Academi jeans. The SS front rise is a bit high for me, so I sag them a bit, heh. Since the cut is so much wider than my BO, getting honeycombs to form is so much harder. Whiskering wasn't setting in either...until I slept in them, lol. My motivation to wear these is unfortunately a lot less than my BO. And since black denim is already pretty hard to break in...these might take a while :-p

I think those are 13oz, but I'm not sure. Anyways, I think you should try to preserve the black colour. I think they look really nice right now.

FINALLY got around to get some fit pics, lol. Took them with my dad's DSLR...though lighting was kinda poor and I didn't realize it until I looked at the pictures on my computer.

4 months, pre soak pictures uploaded. Drying right now, will get pictures in a day or so after dried. As I've moved into my own place, I no longer have access to my dad's DSLR...so back to crappy pics. Sorry haha.

Also - edited post so that old pictures are now all in hyperlinks instead of loading all at once. Only most recent ones will be loaded on thread startup.

I used to put my cell phone in my front left pocket for the first month or two. It developed a noticeable fade, and if you look closely you can still see it actually. Then I decided I didn't like it so I started shifting it around in the pocket to different positions. That way the whole front pocket would start to fade rather than just the sillouette of the phone. Now I'll have it in my jacket, backpack, or back pocket most of the time.
