Amanda's Drys (update 3-4-10)

My Denimbirds:

Day 1:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...g/jeans002.jpg

After 1 Month:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ns01-24003.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ns01-24004.jpg

After 2 Months:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ns02-23002.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ns02-23003.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ns02-23004.jpg
left knee ^
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...ns02-23005.jpg
right knee^

I don't know if the pictures captured it, but I'm actually seeing more and more progress in these. I've started sleeping in them the night before I wear them, so that I kind of roll out of bed with them on. I think/hope they're about as stretched out as they're going to get. I'm having more fun with these now

After 3 months:

4 Months, 1 Wash

So here are my post-wash pics. I put them in on the hand-wash cycle on my machine. I didn't notice any color loss at all.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...clothes005.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...clothes006.jpg

15 Months

At marka's suggestion, here's an update on these! I stopped wearing them regularly about May 08 and I began regular wear on them again in Jan 09. Gave them a wash last weekend. So at this point, though they're 15 months old, I'd say they probably have 6-7 months of actual wear and 2 washes.

27 Months - March 2010

Since my last update, I wore these pretty consistently throughout the end of summer and fall 2009. The crotch area has been thinning, so I patched them up in early Feb 2010 to continue wearing them. Unfortunately, I must have bought crappy patches because I was only able to get another week or two out of them post-patching before the patches started to come off and take even more of the jeans fabric with them. So since the pants-seat at this point is about one roundhouse kick away from exposing me to mother nature and father sky, I'm going to retire my Denimbirds. They've had four washes.

Hopefully this will be cool because there aren't a lot of females that I've seen on this forum who actually are finishing up their projects. My results aren't as good as many I've seen here, but for my first pair of drys I'd like to think they're not bad.

I wore them for 2.5 weeks straight when I first got them (over winter break), but since returning to school I try to alternate them every other day with my other prewashed pairs. Sometimes I sleep in them too

Good work! The combs are really coming along nicely!

Sleeping in the jeans is key! I love it.

if they smell, then wash/soke them! they wont be ruined. the jeans smelling is a sign that you put a good wear on them. also, nudie says put them in the fridge inside out if they smell, try that, maybe it will work./

Btw those jeans look HOT!

I say give them ago with a little febreeze to see if that helps. I've heard put them in the freezer, but I feel that solution will be only temporary. You could always go the dry clean route if you really don't want to soak.

wouldnt dry cleaning them ruin the creases since theyll chemically treat it? I heard that somewhere...

anyways, nice progress amanda!. Try not to sleep in them because i doubt that would give it any fades and might even even out the whiskers/combs.

People loose creases when they get their jeans dry cleaned because they forget to tell the cleaner not to press the jeans.

As for sleeping in your jeans, I do it all the time...it hasn't done anything detrimental to my fading. If anything, I'd say it has only helped.

To keep them fresh put them in the freezer, the really cold temp kills the bacteria. I do it every couple weeks with my birds.

That doesn't quite make sense. So if I freeze a piece of meat, I can take it out and eat it raw because the freezer killed all the bacteria?

what do u do in your sleep raoul to get fades in your jeans?

if anything, bacteria only slows down from being put to the fridge (bacteriostatic) but not killed.

Any friction between the denim and other surfaces helps fade the denim, no?

I'm sure I roll around / move to some degree in my sleep.

I've febreezed them and it hasn't exactly helped - the smell comes back after another wear or two

I'll try the freezer. Thanks all!

As for sleeping in them, I do actually sleep in the fetal position, so my creases have gotten more defined.
