| | | H&M Sliq in Raw... So thanks to ALL the great help from this site and members I settled on these cheapys, ha. Here's the story cut and pasted from my other thread, buuuut it's now time to start my journal! Cliff Notes at bottom...
Soooo preemptively I went to Urban Outfitters to purchase the Raw Selvage they have because I'm assuming the Cheap Monday's are going to be too large. Well, our UO doesn't carry them in the store because they aren't considered a 'large store'. :-( Bummer!
I walk over to H&M to look for a shemagh scarf to cheer me up ha and glance at their denim. Well guess who sells Dry Raw Denim now!?! Okay, it's H&M and not Samurai agreed, but cheap dry denim project so I was pumped!
BUT!
They only had sizes 28 29 31 and 32. Guess who wears a 30? Well, I said "my e-friends on AF say to size down, they'll stretch so...I'll try em.." Well, I tried on 29s and tight around the waist, I can get all the buttons, but I'd def undo the top one to sit down for now, lol...
Overall its a slim straight (Sliq) fit, and I asked if they had 30s = no bones. I also saw a small outseam rip/thread pulled and my Mom is a 'stitch-whiz' so I immediately jumped on the 20% off deal he offered me!
Now, I'm going shopping tomorrow and I'll try a different H&M and pray to find a 30 but to be honest I think I'm going to stick with the 29 and trust everyone on the stretch equaling a bette/truer fit in the end.
Couple phone pictures (my camera is at home :-/) to show you guys the digs. Cliff Notes: No Selvage at UO store. Stop at H&M. They sell raw in Sliq. Bought with small tear for $31.92. Thank God pretty excited! Day 1 1/17/10 Day 16 2/2/10
Then I decided to stand on my sink for better lighting, ha. Please excuse the disproportions and my balancing act, ha... Day 44 3/1/10 Day 75 4/2/10 PRE-soak POST-soak Only a couple and should have done them lying outside, sorry! These pictures aren't good I just had limited time when they actually were dry hours later...

Apparently they've been around for almost a few years now. I've removed the tags and I'm going shopping later and as tempted as I'll be to try on 30s I think I'm not going to, ha. I'm pretty sure I'll like the immediate fit MUCH better, but even my pre-wash 30s loosen up around the waist after a few days. Since these are almost never getting washed it's good to size down, stretch to a normal every day wearable size, correct? Am I understanding this more?
The back pockets are cool and the yellow/gold stitching is pretty nice especially on the fly. The back pocket has ONE exposed rivet on the inside right side. No idea why just one, but ok cool, ha..
Overall, I like. I can button all the buttons and although it's still uncomfortable I'm feeling they'll stretch out as I've already noticed they are 'less uncomfortable' lol in the 5 hours I wore them...or I got used to it, ha.

| | | So washing the dishes I splashed a little water on my jeans. I forgot and wiped them with my towel annnnd now I have 2 blue spots on my towel, ha. Jeans didn't fade in that spot so we're all good.
However!
What happens from the abrasion of the hem on my leather boots? If they get wet am I looking at staining my leather boots? I wouldn't care otherwise, but I JUST got these boots (Ugg Aiden) and last thing I really want is a blue ring on them :'(

But yes, there is a possibility. |

| | | I would imagine if it is a light coloured leather the chances are pretty good you will get transfer from the hem, even without rain (still will happen with dark leather but not as noticeable). My white shoes have taken some of the indigo from the hem for themselves. Leather being somewhat more abrasive I would imagine it will happen. I actually like the look of those Jeans. Never shopped at an H&M before though, I know they are huge in Europe. GQ also likes to use them, I think in every issue they have something from H&M.

| | That's because GQ tries to target every market demographic: whether you're upper class or middle class, you can get similar items
Secondly, yeah your boots are bound to get stained. My desert boots got stained from my APCs already. Just by walking around. |

| | | I saw these during the holidays, it was my first time browsing through H&M.
I remember reading posts a long time ago about H&M selling selvedge as well, but I don't know if they still make those.
Second two pics are a bit hard to see, but fit looks good.
Yeah, chances are your boots will get stained unless they're black, then maybe not.
I haven't had any issues with staining on black boots/shoes so far.

| | | They're dark brown soaked in Kiwi polish, ha so praying it's minor. They'll probably get the mink oil treatment soon enough which will darken them more and if anything stain the jeans, ha. I don't for see it being too bad and have an "oh well, such is life..." kind of attitude. I suppose if small indigo transfer from raw denim to new Uggs is my worst problem it's definitely something to thank God about. =]
I've been wearing a white thermal at home past 2 days and no transfer to my sight there. If I rub the shirt on the jean then yes, but from normal wear then no. I also sit on a white covered chair to eat/study sometimes and no marks on it either. Ha, I actually forgot on Day 1 and thanked God my roommate wasn't gonna have to make me oxyclean his chair cover, ha =P
So dry it really isn't too bad, but man wet I hit it with a towel and it immediately left the jeans!
Anyway! Sorry for the poor pictures, it's nearly embarrassing because I know how frustrating poor pictures can be, but my camera is at my parents soooo more detailed pictures this weekend! =]
And as always I appreciate the comments/suggestions/etc!

| | Even if the jeans don't get wet you will end up with some indigo on your boots/shoes. All of my shoes have some indigo or dark areas from the jeans rubbing against them. For my brown/black leather boots I could care less. Looks good and gives them some character. My white vans have indigo stains from 3 different pairs of jeans! They are really beat to shit. |

| | | Tops of slippers are turning a tad, but they're suede or something like that. The Uggs are looking fine and maybe a smidge on the top of the inner sheepskin around the heel buuuuut as stated I'm over it, ha. I agree with you and OC that it'll add character plus my roommate said the exact same thing. Dry is all about being custom soooo I got it, ha.
I'll have an update tomorrow with pictures. Mom's going to stitch the outseam and I'll snag a couple. The fit is near perfect and have gotten compliments from my sister and buddy on the fit. To note my buddy said they've stretched and fit better and less skinny in the legs as they did early this week which is a plus. Def glad they didn't have a 30 and I was anxious and went 29 (sz down) thanks fellas!
P.S. Cheap Mondays are HUGE!! I sized them at 30s and they are prob 2 sizes too big, no joke. So for reference: Cheap Monday Autobahn's straight leg in Unwash run hugeish in the waist per forum members and confirmed first hand here. Although the denim def is stiffer/thicker than my H&Ms on Day 1. Soooo I'd say H&Ms are low rate then, haha. No surprise there, but oh well, thank God I snagged the H&M's dirt cheap and seem to be working smooth. I'm excited, ha.

| | So finally got an 'item' in my back pocket to wear in nice. It was Mom's idea and I LOVE it! Cheated it though and ran over it with rolling pin, pen, plastic lid, etc to get the outline started and kind of 'seated' in place. I also have the backside duck-taped to the inside to help it stay. I'm pretty excited about it and it looks awesome!
Oh, also snagged a belt to fit these jeans and per Mom again used sandpaper and steel wool to 'age' the buckle. The leather strap itself needs it next. In any event, a cell phone picture of the old house skeleton key =]
P.S I edited the photo some to increase contrast/clarity to get more 'detail' out in the picture...

Thanks! =] Your jeans look fantastic as is, so yea you have time to think of an awesome idea. Thought of a bullet or even a clip, ha. I need to age the belt itself first. It looks too new, ha. THEN I'll snag some perhaps after some sandpaper and the pavement scrape? lol

| | | Personally, I think the whole bullet/weapon/"look at me I'm a thug" look only works if you are...in fact...a thug. And...sorry to say, but judging from your posts I get the impression that you are anything but.
Skeleton key is a cool idea, though.

Lol, don't be sorry for admitting that I'm not a 'thug', hahaha. You guessed right and your same thought ran through my head hence why a skeleton key won out, ha.
As far as wearing my belt to age it. The buckle was shiny bling-blang so that needed dulled out and it was $3 annnnnnnd I'm pretty sure it's like plastic or synthetic not real leather. With that being said, the crease at the hole is harsh and the rest of the belt looks shiny/plasticish. It needs something in my opinion though, ha.
And thanks OC, but I'm upset you haven't posted any comments in your journal about those unbranded raw selvages. I wanna see/read updates!

Tried to make do with a cell picture. I need to get better ones no doubt, but that's the only full size mirror here. Didn't edit them at all just resized so once again sorry for poor pictures. Thank God, I'm digging the fit and definitely fit great IMO and I mean they DID stretch to my dimensions so they kinda should, ha...
Edit: Above I posted Day 16 I believe wearing them ~12hrs+ a day with a college student lifestyle (walking/sitting/studying/nothing crazy) and no they don't see the gym or bed, ha...
