The infamously gigantic plain leather patch. I think I'm going to paint something on here. Any interesting ideas?


These are 30s, and they fit quite snug.
However, even for somebody with long legs like me, the 34 inseam is a bit long. And while its nice to show off some selvedge, I think I'm going to soak 'em and see if t hey get a bit shorter.

The tag says they'll shrink 3%, anybody know if that'll be a real difference?

Well, I've gotten some good wear out of these. Almost every day for the past month or so. However, I'm not getting much fading yet; only the knees, back pockets (wallet, and where the hidden rivets are), and backs of the leg opening show any noticeable signs of fading. However, if you look close other ones are developing.

From wearing these, I really do think they are a deal. I've beat these babies up, and they've held up well. However, I think they're going to prove to be hard to break in.

For next time: The pics need to be brighter (turn on the light, use flash, or Photoshop em)

Yeah, I know they're a bit dark. Its late in the day, and I didn't realize how dark they were going to be until after I had them in the computer.
I brightened them a bit, but don't have access to a quality image editor.

Also, I really like that idea for what to paint, Epicure.

Maybe not paint them, try using a soldering tool and engraving it

Would that work?

So far the jean looks awesome. The honeycomb is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see how this jean turns out! Keep up at it and wear it hard!

What's wrong with the leather patch? I think it looks fine, clean & simple. Is that the reason? Too plain?

I wouldn't mind the plainness if it was small, but the thing really is massive.

Also, I've always liked customizing things; that's part of beauty of raw denim! Its all you!

If you don't usually wear your shirt tucked then chances are the patch will rarely be seen. Try a belt?
Maybe you can have something stamped/imprinted onto the leather.

I don't tuck in my shirt, but when its warm out, my shirts are quite small (I've been known to wear youth larges.)
And currently, I don't really have any cool belts; just a plain black cloth belt and a plain black leather dress belt. And I don't always wear belts if the jeans fit.


Next order of business, should I wear these cuffed or uncuffed? I'm not sure which I like better, so I want some opinions. I can put up pics upon request. And should I soak them for that 3% shrink, or will it not make a real difference?

I think pics would certainly help.

Cuff, if you want a cool belt, get a tanner belt

It seems I'm not gonna get the chance to take a pic until thursday at best :/

So far, no problems with the jeans. I've worn them almost nonstop since Sunday, even slept in them last night. My combs are coming along great, and my stacks seem to have settled a bit (they don't look as weird as they did when I first took the picture), and when I take them off they retain my shape. Which I think is cool.
I've got some stretching occurring, mostly in the waist.

Any quick tips for wearing these in?
Special things to do for that first week?
Interesting things to put in my coin pocket?

they're jeans. just wear them long and hard. love them, and they will return the favor

Jeans look good. I agree you should make a design of or something out of gauged wire (it's like thick paperclip wire) then heat it over a flame and press it into the leather patch much like cow branding. It IS leather after all, ha..

And, ha, thanks. I am rather skinny, I was able to button my STFS all the way after their soak, at that point they were 26-27 inches. Wasn't easy, but still doable.
