| | | I don't think Dark Maze is a dry denim.
The TR's do run big. What size did you get?
Maybe try a pair of Nudies or Samurai's? They have Nudies on Revolve. |

| | | I didn't think True Religion made dry jeans. I figured they were just a raw wash.
Interesting however. True Religion suits me pretty true to size.

| | | I wear size 29 in a lot of TR and 1 size down is to big for me in the dry's. 2 sizes down might work but they don't make a 27. I wear a 30 in most 7's.
My bro tried on a size 29 and he is about the same size as me but he wears a 30 or 31 in most 7's. The 29 was to big for him in dry.
28 might be worth a shot for you. |

| | | I have a pair of TR raw also and they are way too big on me as well. But, is that because they haven't been washed yet? and therefore, have not shrunk down to proper size? |

| | | If they are unsanforized, then that would probably be the reason.

| | | OK. So what does unsanforized mean and how can I tell if they are? |

| | | Sanforizing is a process that the raw elements used to make jeans are put through, comprising of various means to avoid significant shrinking. Unlike a pre-washing (as with pretty much any designer jean discussed outside the dry section of this forum), this process is done before the jeans are constructed. Brands like Nudie and APC are known to employ this process so pre-soaking is not nessesary to size correctly with dry denim. Shrinking is thus kept to a bare minimum (1-3% usually).
However, certain brands, and most obviously, the Levi's STF (shrink-to-fit) are not put through this process and consequently, can expect a fair amount of shrinkage, up to 10% and even more possibly in the length. The appeal is often found for Levi's repro fanatics who are looking for replicated vintage jeans, right along with Japanese Denim-heads. The reason for this probably having to do with the fact that this technique was not pioneered until the late 1920's and hence, old Levi's before then did not boast this feature. Either way, it has nothing to do with the fading potencial of the jeans themselves, but could very much make a difference as to whether or not you should soak before you begin to break them in.
Unfortunately, I am not exactly sure whether the jeans you have are sanforized or not.

| | | Sorry for all of the rookie questions, but well... I am a rookie!
So, soaking the jeans will prevent them from shrinking? or will that make them shrink? I don't get it. |

| | | Not a problem man. I have only recently started getting into dry denim so all this jargon was very new to me only a short time ago.
If those TR's are not sanforized, then you would want to put them in a tub and fill it with hot water and have the jeans completely submerged. Do not agitate them while doing this, you don't want to see very much indigo loss. Keep them in the tub for about an hour or two. Whether you let them drip dry or dry them in the drier is up to you. I have heard of both being done.
When you remove them, they will have shrunk a good deal. About an inch or two in the waist and up to three in the length. This will keep them from shrinking too much when you actually wash them in your machine after breaking them in, and will also guarentee that your honeycombs and wiskers will actually correspond with your shape.

| | Just a little update, I have just sent an email to the True Religion associates representing the homepage asking about their raw billy jeans. I asked for confirmation that they are indeed dry jeans and not a pre-wash (not rebuffing your word treasurehoard, just figuring it can't hurt to ask). And I also asked whether or not the jeans are sanforized, thus requiring a pre-soak before wearing. I am expecting/hoping for a response by this time tomorrow, maybe even earlier depending on how busy they are.
I'll paste the response here when I get it.

| | | hey man, i had the tr's raw for a solid two days before i sent them back, and they are indeed dry. very very stiff (alot stiffer then my nudies) and i would believe they were not sanforized, because i got my normal tr size and they were huuugeee, i didn't know about the pre-soak thing though, so i just sent them back |

| | | I own True Religion Joey Big T's in Raw and I've had them for a long time.
I got a size 28 and they fit like 30's. I got them hemmed a little longer than usual because they might shrink. I haven't washed them yet.
No signs of wear like people have on their nudies here. Not even a small sign even though I have worn them for a good amount. The knee area was really tight at first but it stretched out and I got some really weak honeycombs. That's about it.
Don't expect awesome fades and honeycombs.

Thanks for sharing all of that info. I am off this weekend, so hopefully you hear back from TR before then. I would really love to get these jeans down to a size that fits me properly, so a good soak might be in order! |

| | | OK. So I soaked my RAWs in hot water for about 2 hours today. Threw in the dryer on Medium. They shrunk about an inch in length and almost nothing in the waist. I think I might try it again tomorrow and dry them on HOT. They are still WAY too big for me. |

| | Hi guys,
I bought on ebay a pair of Raw Bobby for my boyfriend. They came today but they are huuuuge! Don't think he will fit into these...
These are a 30 and he normally wears 30 in Diesel, I think he would need a 31 in R&R... now... if these don't fit, would it be difficult to trade them (not necessarily with another raw pair)? I'm sad...

| | It all depends, what is the return policy of the seller? Hopefully he will accept returns. The question of whether or not TR dry denim is sanforized or not has yet to really be confirmed, so unfortunately, I can tell you whether or not a hot soak and dry would shrink them significantly.
Sorry, but good luck.

| | I bought these on ebay, but even if the seller would accept a return, it would be a loss of money for me because I live in Italy and I already paid 25$ for shipping on the auction; it would cost me at least the same to reship them back, so if they would not fit him, I will resell or trade with another pair.
I cannot know the fit until friday because I'm studying for an exam and we will meet on friday evening.
