Another lady asking for help with dry denim

I've done my research on a lot, but I'm still a little lost in the sauce. I was wondering if I should just suck it up and bite the bullet on $250 or are there mo' better ways to find one of the following pairs?

PBJ Purple

Sling and Stone Mary

Sling and Stone Delilah

Leaning toward the Mary because I like about a 16" leg opening, but the purple of the PBJ draws me in. The fear that they're overestimating the leg opening on the Mary draws me to the Delilah.

Also, I wanted to make sure with the experts that as a 30/31 (basically a 31 waist with 30 legs) I'll be able to squeeze into the S&S 31s and PBJ size 5s. Or is my sizing all off?

ANY and ALL help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Personally I prefer PBJs. You might be able to find em cheaper ... but going to take some effort. If you were a guy you would probably have a better chance by checking out the SUFU market place for a slightly owned pair. Don't see nearly as many womens pairs on there though.

If you think the measurements are incorrect you could always contact them. Both sites are extremely good with this kind of stuff and should be able to help you find something that fits.

I like those PBJs

I have a pair of S&S Rachel which I bought years ago and have not even started as it's a bit too big. Still working on Nudies that I've had for years.

But, the S&S denim is a very nice quality. I can measure my pair for you if that helps. Ideally, it should be really tight on you to start. Like uncomfortably so.

The denim, dye and I reckon the construct will be better on the PBJs.
No idea about the fits though.

I feel like I bug you enough as is . But, yeah, if you could that would be great. No rush - within the next couple weeks is still awesome with me.

So, I bought Linda's S&S along with a pair from SelfEdge. The ones from SelfEdge fit horribly in comparison, but you can only return for store credit.

Just wondering if there was a market for SE store credit, either for cash or BiG credit...maybe at SuFu or something? Just didn't know if I should suck it up and try to work them in because I'd never use the store credit. TIA.

^ Definitely, just post them in the B&S forums on SuFu or SF, make a couple of bucks loss and you'll have all sorts of denim kids wanting the store credit.

Just FYI, the purple in the purple face PBJs seems a bit overstated. It seems like no-one ever really gets more than a vague purple-ish hue. If the fades actually came in purple, I'd be all about getting a pair, but they really don't.

That seems obvious, no? It's only the weft threads that are died purple so they will only slightly show through. Just as you can only see some of the white weft threads on your normal indigo dyed denim. For purple fading as you speak of you would need the core of the warp threads dyed purple with an indigo top coat that would wear off. Which I suppose in theory you could do purple core with a sulfur topcoat or something akin to that. If you have seen denim with indigo weft, they can be pretty dark.

Wow, years since I've been on here. Where can you find Sling and stone? Mine are so old and I've never seen the brand anyplace.

Sling & Stones : Self Edge : Japanese Selvedge Denim

Selfedge. I don't know of anywhere else. Don't really go looking for S&S.

I like the original jeans more since they are made from 100% cotton
