New Levi's 537 Slim Bootcut.

Most of the older folks on here remember my experience with the Levi's Skinners and their outrageously low rise. I had to let them go despite being otherwise in love with the fit. This new 537 is basically the Skinner reborn, but with a rise more appropriate for comfortable daily wear. The denim quality is comparable to the STF 501, so no BAWWWing about the fact that they are inferior to the LVCs. They are more than adaquate as a pair of beaters.

Perhaps the most significant thing about this cut is the fact that they have singlehandedly revived my excitement for the bootcut fit, a fit I had nearly lost hope in after my PBJ experience. The hem breaks just ever so slightly. A quick glance and one would likely assume they are a slim-straight 511.

The other reason (and perhaps the most important) for my creating this topic is that of drawing some attention to the impressive efforts of a company's reinvention. Honestly, Levi's, with the exception of a few cuts, had drifted into a dangerously neglected harbor in the American public's eye. Levi's simply weren't cool anymore. They were the jeans of a previous generation, coated in cobwebs and weighed down by the bleary nostalgic ramblings of a bygone era. These "new" cuts represent the Herculean effort of an American classic that just won't quit as it carries itself tenaciously into a hopeful denim renaissance. Hats off.

I wouldn't have even guessed those were bootcut had you not said that. Reminds me of the Bootcut Ola in that sense. What are the measurements for that pair?

I know, that's exactly how I felt when I first found them. I almost assumed that they must have been mislabeled. Unfortunately, I don't currently have access to any means of measurement, but I'll get the measurements up as soon I am able.

I can say that in terms of fit and denim weight, I prefer these to the flimsy (yet still dear to my heart ) bootcut olas. Though I am never letting go of the latter. Particular now, as the fit has since been discontinued.

Found this on the UO site, 99% sure these are one and the same. There's still that 10% off code BFF for UO that ends today.

if only i had known...

i picked up some 501xx's a month or so ago... if i had known about these 537's earlier it might have saved me some time... I wanted an ever so slight "bootish" cut... so after my first soak i litterally found myself tugging at both ends of the hems to stretch them out... sounds stupid but it worked... a little lol
