I am new to this thread and have read over the basics, but am still a bit confused. Any input would really be appreicated. I was looking to purchase my first pair of Nudie Narrow Boot Jeans in Dry Clean Organic. I just want to make sure these are indeed dry denim and this means I cannot wash them for the first six months? As for sizing, I am normally a size 27 or 28, should I go with a size 27 since I read they do stretch a lot?

Yes, try your best not to wash for at least 6 months...actually, probably closer to a year.

On the site, it states that a size 26 has a waist of 28.5". On top of the 2.5" difference, I would also expect 1" - 1.5" of stretch. Therefore, measure your best fitting pair of jeans at the waist aligned, subtract 1.5 for stretch and then subtract 2.5 to get to the nudie size

Here is an example:

Measured waist of favourite jeans = 29"
Subtract stretch 1.5"
New Measurement = 27.5"
Convert to Nudie size (-2.5") = 25

Thanks a lot for the response. I do have one more question, since they are really tight at first are there any tips how get them on at first? I can only imagine how tight they will be the first few wears.

Okay... I know I am asking a lot!

I have refined some of my questions to be more specific.

I am a 31.5 waist measurement. I am considering a 29 in APC NS Black....
However, they are not selvedge.

Of these two (Nudie vs APC), which has better quality and fading (or retain the black longer)?:

Grim Tim Black Selvedge - $230.00 : Self Edge : Japanese Selvedge Denim

OR

Nudie is selvedge, APC not (for their blacks).

My nudie Average joe are huge on me and I want to try and shrink them. I have had them only two months and have worn them a lot. They are looking pretty good. What do you think the best process is to go about this?

^ Yeah, I was weighing between soaking and washing and was also thinking about water temperature. Thanks Jesse.

Brody, you won't really be able to shrink them that much and the amount they do shrink, will stretch back out within 1 or 2 wears. Honestly, the best suggestion is to get a new pair, or have your current altered.

kd2411, they will only be about 1-1.5 inches too small to begin with. It may be a little painful on the hips at first, but will stretch out nicely within 10 wears or so. If you want a quicker solution, mist the inside of the areas you want stretched with a spray bottle, and then put them on and do squats. They will stretch out quickly. Not to mention, the jeans in question have a stretch component in the material.

Yeah, that is what I was afraid of. They were big to begin with. Oh well. Thank you.

Could be..but I doubt it. Though, 40% spandex would likely make it take forever to fade.

So I got my first pair of Dry Denim the Nudie Narrow Bootcut.
NUDIE JEANS Narrow Boot in Dry Clean Organic at Revolve Clothing - Free Shipping!

I am normally a size 27 or 28 in jeans. I decided to buy a 27 and I can't pull them up enough to even button them! I know they do stretch with time, but are they supposed to be this tight? I can get them about halfway up my booty, but that is it. Should I exchange for a 28 even though they say to size down?

If you can't even fit them over your ass, you'll probably have to size up. AFAIK most Nudies stretch out enough that if you can't zip them up all the way or button the button you will be okay a couple of hours/days down the road. But from what you're describing here, even if you do manage to stick your ass and your junk into the jeans at some point in the future you are going to be insanely uncomfortable.

I think the good peeps here would be able to give you some better advice with some pictures. ....... modest pictures.

That is what I thought. I just ordered 1 size up.

Please excuse me as I'm new to dry denim if this is a silly question. Will dry denim bleed on to light colored tops or a couch while wearing? Also, I read one member sat in a wet tube with her dry denim and let air dry while wearing for a better fit. Is this recommended? I was under the impression you should not wash or wet them for at least 6 months.

Yea, sounds like sizing up was the right idea.

Dry denim will bleed...but the extent of bleeding will depend on the brand/particular pair. I've had some Nudies in the past and none of mine really bled that much. (only on my shoes, never on furniture) Others have had Nudies and bled tons.

Soaking is different from washing. What separates the two is agitation while wet. And you really only need to worry about the six months thing if you're wearing a "cheaper" dry denim brand like Nudie and APC, as the dye job isn't as solid as other companies, but it does allow them to be at a lower price point.

Thanks for the info on bleeding. I thought Nudie was a good brand, what are some quality dry denim brands? If Nudie's are cheap then I will probably go ahead and return them for a better pair that does not bleed. Any recommendations?

Things they've carried in the past, but I'm not sure if they still do, include Crate, Kicking Mule Workshop, and Slings & Stones.

Most denimbirds are dry.

Not sure about the waist, but the thighs are measured at different points. BiG is at the crotch, SE is an inch down.
