so the 38 you are talking about is the waist? according to selfedge website, they will shrink 1.25". even if they shrank 2"...would that work for you? you normally want to size down, not up.

^^Yeah I mean size 38 waist. If they could shrink 2" they would be perfect, since I usually wear an 18.5" aligned waist. So I guess the question is could I get them to shrink that much, assuming they were soaked in really hot water

i would ask them. i would be a little worried about them stretching back out. that's a lot of money to get a bad fit.

I e-mailed them and got this response
Quote:
You can easily take the jean, turn it inside out, soak in hot water for 40 minutes, remove from water, then dry them on high for 45 minutes and you'll be set.

So i have a pair of 34 Imperial Dukes. I want to get a pair of nudies to switch with them. Which pair would be the most similar? I was looking at SelfEdge measurements and The Slim Jim and Even Steven seem pretty similar but then the waist size should i get a 33?. Also, are imperials known for having the crotch go first?

.

Proxying from Japan will cost either less or the same as ordering from SE...so if you really want a 36, you can do that. And you can actually order directly from a lot of Rakuten shops now...a lot take Paypal. (2nd, the shop, will ask for a wire transfer if you've never ordered from there before).

I would say Average Joe sized down one or Even Steven. I think you could go with either same size or down one. I don't think Imperials are that prone to crotch blowouts.

Please don't get a 38. You need a 36.

Smokin Ace...My initial thought was with Pacosdad and Raoul Duke. I really think you should wait to find a 36. $300 is a lot of money to spend on ill-fitting jeans and yeah, don't these jeans stretch out after a bit of wear? The difference between a 36 and a 38 is a lot. Much different than 32 and 33. I honestly think you should wait.

New womens 501s help please

Hi,
I am trying to follow the rules as a newbie and post in this section, but I can't figure out the order of the posts (the initial post seems to be a response to something). Am I crazy, or is this actually weird?

So, my question is about a new pair of women's Levis 501s (capital e, organic)
and how to soak. I bought my ts, as I read here not to expect huge amounts of shrinkage. I do need them to shrink, especially in length, but the waist is not far from my actual size. The label says to expect 1" waist shrinkage, so I am a little concerned, should I be?
I am wondering about water temperature and length of time to soak. These were not expensive, so if the fit doesn't work- I'll have to try again, but I'd really like to start with these. Any suggestions about time and temp, or will it really not make a difference?
Sorry if this is incoherant and rambling, thanks.

There were some other threads that got merged with this one, hence the weird ordering of posts.

Don't worry about the 1" shrinkage, it'll stretch back out easiiilllyyy. But if you're still really worried, just wear them while they are soaking.

Hot water will make it shrink more. No exact science regarding the numerical amount of shrinkage though. Time-wise...up to you. I've seen people do as short as 15 mins, up til 2 hours. Depends on how much you want it to shrink. You could also just jump in the shower with them on and wear them while they dry.

ok, stupid question, but are these Good Society's raw or just a dark wash?
I'm bored with my usuals (SFAM & COH) so I want to try raws...but I don't want to spend $300 and I can't rock a really slim leg.

Good Society Organic Denim Jean

I've been reading about raw denim, but for the most part I'm still pretty clueless. Any suggestions??

Can't say definitively, but I think those are the raw. Compare with: GOOD SOCIETY Boot Cut in Raw at Revolve Clothing - Free Shipping!

As for suggestions...there's too many. Need more info to narrow down choices.

I purchased Skulls S5010XX black one wash in sz. 32. I think they're going to be too big, but I didn't want to get any smaller because I know skulls aren't really known for extreme stretching properties. If I wash them in hot water and put them in a hot dryer, will I get any more shrinkage in the thighs or waist?

No. Skulls are already sanforized, not to mention they're one-washed.

If you can, I'd return the one-wash version and get the raw version. The industrial washing process takes a lot out of the denim.

Trang has a pair of the raw straight legs in the mall in size 26...for $55! I would check those out, though GS supposedly take forever to get fades.

I am loving my Jean Shop bootcuts, but they are hard to find...and my Skull Linda Bootcuts are also a great fit though they hurt my hipbones.
Skull Lindas are good if you want a straight fit.
And if you have skinny legs/hips, you could try PBJ.
