Not sure why that would be the case. Either way, it's not in a spot where there will be natural creasing so once you give these their first wash it will blend in better with the rest of the denim.

My two cents anyway.

All right, that sounds reasonable. I'll just have to deal with them looking like that until I was them

The inner thigh area right behind my crotch is starting to wear down on my APC NS because of the rubbing from walking, I assume. Thinking about patching the inside with denim bits I saved from hemming these on day one. Yay or nay? I'm a bit worried that even after patching, having signs of wear in that area would look weird.

What are your other options? Spend money for a tailor to do it or walk around with a ball hanging out. So you might as well give it a try.

just heared about dry/raw denim .. and had several questions

why do people wear them compared to other designer jeans eg: diesel, sevs, trues, rocks etc?

do people wait 6 months to wash their jeans so that their creases can set in?

after the first wash will the jeans remain to look that way from then on?

what brands of raw/denim look the best? pocket stitching wise

thanks

I prefer them over designer brands because the construction and fabric of these jeans are, in general, superior compared to anything else on the market.
I started with Cavalli, D&G, etc when I was younger, began wearing Edwin after a while because I wasn't satisfied with the fabrics of these designer brands...eventually Edwin's selvedged SEN lead me to the true artisan Japanese makers.
Now I rock Roy's daily (Roy Slaper, the magnificent one-man sweatshop).

There are some who wear these vintage inspired jeans because they nerd about the details, fabric, etc.
Others who wear them because they want a personalised piece of garment after the denim breaks in and fading develops.
A lot of people wear them because of the recent raw denim hype.
Many different reasons I guess.

Not everyone does this.
This '6 months' rule was generated by Nudie, AFAIK, as a marketing tool.
Once people have enough experience with handling raw denim, they usually develop their own maintenance methods and schedules.

This depends on the dye used.
A synthetic indigo or natural indigo dyed fabric without secondary processing will usually fade with wear.
There are also selvedge denim on the market dyed using more permanent dyes, which will not fade so much.

This is entirely subjective.
I prefer a plain back-pocket most of the times.
I'm not sure what you find appealing.

Will the indigo on my jeans just continue to bleed everywhere?

Hey guys, I've just got a quick question...I bought some raw denim and did a soak in the tub. When I was pulling them back inside out, indigo came off all over my hands.
So my question is, do I have to put old towels on my chairs and sofa while I'm wearing these things so I don't get dye everywhere? Does the indigo stop bleeding after a few wears?

The indigo came off mostly becasue it was wet and that is natural. I don't think you have to go as far as putting towels down on everything you sit on. Usually if something is abrasive it will take some indigo. I have a beige couch that has lived through 3 pairs of raw denim and no indigo was transferred. In one of my vehicles from sliding in and out 1000s of times the seat turned a little blue on the edge. The amount the indigo bleeds will lessen with time but it will continue to do so as that is where the natural fading comes from.

I've had my Nudie SJBT for nearly 7 months with regular wear (3 or more times a week). The creases along my hip and honey combs behind my knees have been set in quite well but there is minimal fade.

Has anyone started a Nudie broken twill project? I would love to see some pics of what I have to look forward to. I started a dry journal last fall and will be posting more updated pics soon.

Back pocket placement seems really far apart for a women's pair of jeans. Almost like a men's pair.

Too late to taper?

Hi all,

I've worn my APC Petit Standards pretty regularly for around 5-6 months. I've always felt like getting them tapered a bit, but never got around to it. I cuff them and wear them with boots so the stacks are already worn in some. Do you think it's too late to get them tapered at the ankle by 1/4-1/2 inch? What's the worst that could happen?

FWIW, I have a good tailor who's tapered APCs before while keeping the chain stitching and selvedge edge.

Thanks!
