Recommended Omega-3 supplements?

I'm out of my flaxseed &fish oil supplements & am wondering if there is a recommended brand of Omega 3 fish oil &flaxseed supplements, or a certain standardization that I should be looking for.

I am on a mission to deal with my skin & cholesterol issues & I'm hoping these will help, and want to make sure i get the best possible supplements!

for omega 3, you should try Salba. they say its the word's most richest source of omega 3. you can buy Salba seeds in packets (i heard they're $25 though!) and you just add them into your foods =)
i watched a video on it in nutrition class.. it does have tons of other nutritional goodies in it, like fiber and calcium! if it wasn't $25 maybe i'd consider buying hahah

I eat fish occasionally, but supposedly daily supplementation of omega 3's is good for a variety of ailments I'm dealing with.

i take a spoon of flax oil daily. i'm not aware that there is any sort of quality control that needs to be in place for an oil, unless there are worries that the company is diluting it.

From my understanding though, only take supplements that are already stored in the refridgerated section at wherever you buy it. If it's a shelf brand, not refridgerated (even if it says to do so after opening) will not be as pure or work as well.

yeah thats the one thing about flax oil, it should have been cold pressed, and should be refrigerated

I took flax seed oil one day and it really upset my stomach. I was downing water like crazy and for some odd reason I got light-headed..must've been from paranoia. I'm going to try to taking it again but in smaller dosage until I can build myself up.

Yeah, I can't take the oil straight. All the different ones have a breakdown of the different amounts of stuff in them which made me confused about whether or not I could screw up buying supplements.
I'm paranoid after finding out that I was taking the least bioavailable form of calcium supplement for over 5 years b/c my doctor didn't bother to specify.

bioavailable form of calcium?? were you taking calcium that didn't also have vitamin D?

I mix the oil with a fruit smoothie.

I don't know if this is the same thing but I take 500 mg of omega3 DHA fish oil per day. I take it so the baby is smart. DHA is key for brain development.

Try to buy Pharmaceutical grade. I take Rexall Premium Fish Oil pills that you can pick up at Walmart. I also eat Salmon twice a week.

hi, newbie here...hope i'm not butting in
i figured this would be a great way to introduce myself by contributing to the topic

i'm taking omega-3 fishoil caps from energy first...my galpal and i were in
search of some whey protein and came across energyfirst
they have the highest potency omega-3 fish oil caps that we've seen so far
with 1360 mg
and healthiest whey protein (gluten free, no sugar)

their omega-3 fish oil caps do not leave you with a fishy smell and taste
like the other ones i've tried

the whey protein shakes are the best i've ever tasted...
bland but i fix that with a packet of splenda
i'm also taking their Greenery powder since I don't eat veggies and fruits
as much as I should

great customer service too

welcome!

Hmm I looked at their website, they actually have some pretty good info in there. Although their "avoid all sugar" mentality is a bit odd.

But if their whey protein shakes are the best you've ever tasted why do you need to add sugar? Oh and I've read research of both sides of the fence about Stevia, and I'm not a big fan, really.

Well I did. Not sure if it's that which helped or not but my son is a smarty pants. I also used to play it when he was a newborn in his bassinet. Maybe that's why he was so chill. lol

thanks for the warm welcome!

i say that their whey protein shakes are the best tasting because
i can actually take it down without gagging...
it's just bland for my sweet taste so i add the splenda
*i have to use splenda because i'm diabetic
