i found the most awesome thing in the whole world

i was at this herb store type of thing today looking for cleansing stuff and i came across this bottle of stevia... natural sugar... they had it in grape, milk chocolate, plain and something else... so anyway, joel wanted to try the chocolate stuff so i got a bottle... so when we got hom he put like 2 drops of it in plain white milk... he loved it and told me to try it and omg it tastes exactley like chocolate milk it smelled a lil funny and tased strong out of the bottle but a drop or 2 mixed with something tasted just like the real thing... holy crap i'm in love with the stuff... so are my kids...

the lady there gave me a couple samples of the granulated stevia to try so i'm gonna put some in my coffee tomorrow and see how that goes

oh, i forgot to mention... it has 0 calories and 0 carbs

ok so i got my cleansing stuff... it's called "all cell detox"
i gotta wean myself off of the coffee before i start anything... and i think i'm gonna do a liquid/ raw veggie type of thing... i dunno if i could handle liquid only....
alright.. so the ingredients are

gentian root
irish moss plant
cascara sagrada bark
fenugreek seeds
slippery elm bark
safflower flowers
black walnut hulls
myrrh gun
yellow dock root
oregon grape root
catnip leaves
chickweed leaf
parthebium root
uva ursi extract
golden seal root

i type in every single one individually and researched them... they're all good cleansing/ antiseptic/ mucalage herbs... and a couple of them said they were good for skin and acne... so i'm keeping my fingers crossed that this works

I'm not a big fan of 0 cal and 0 carbs. It's usually 100% fake and bad for you.

For cleansing I drink just cranberry juice for one day. I haven't done that in years.

There's a lot of info on stevia on the net. Keep in mind that your body still thinks it's sugar, as it tastes sweet, and reacts to it.
If you feel better, take that cleansing stuff. There is absolutely no research to back the whole cleansing thing up- but many people like to believe what you find on "natural" websites etc.
Cells cannot detox, by the way.
It would be much better for you to eat a healthy diet all the time, instead of treating your poor body with "cleansing"...
I can recommend the books by John Robbins for an interesting read.

No, it's not a complete ingredient list. They wouldn't hold together in pill form like this.
Have you researched how much (in mg) of each ingredient would be needed to achieve a so- called cleansing?

ughhhhhhh well that sucks! (about ur body reacting to it is if it were sugar) it says on the bottle that it wont raise blood sugar

and the detox has 475mg of each... 2 pills 3x a day... and i was told that i should take it for 12 days...
and as far as fillers go... it has.... plant cellulose, geletin and water. it's in capsul form... not tablet...

the reason i got the cell detox was because its supposed to draw toxins out of the body.... and cleanse the liver. it was recomended by the nurses at my doctor's office. a couple of them use it and the one's daughter uses it and they say it works really well.... they swear by the stuff...
i suspect that a certain medication i take... and other things is whats causing my skin (and other) problems so i'm praying this will help.

it would be kind of useless to take it and not change my eating habits... hopefully i can stick with something.. i looked up those books u recomended before jenn, robbins & furhman? the stuff actually sound so good.. i could eat it.. i dunno how the kids would feel about eating it... i guess i'd have to start them gradually.

Hon, it's been some time since I read up on stevia. Perhaps newer research sounds better? Whatever, don't rely on what the bottle says.
What does the doc say on the detox stuff?
(I wonder too how you would know it works, by the way)

the bottle of liquid stevia says zero calories, carbs and zero glycemic index?
and ingredients are : stevia, natural cocoa flavor and grapefruit seed extract.

the the little packets of powdered stevia has insulin fiber (fos) listed as the main ingredient, then stevia leaf extract..... then below that it says due to the high fiber content of this product, stir liquid first, then pour product into liquid.
ok and it also says under the "zero net carbs" *carbs minus dietary fiber

i tired it in some coffee and it kind of reminded me of splenda... i only got to taste it because i dumped the rest of it... i'm trying to cut out coffee but i was curious so i had to try.

the doctor said that the all cell detox is "wonderful" but he can't really be recomending stuff like that because it's not fda approved as a drug or medicine... and also to be careful with herbs and only take the amount that issuggested on the bottle... a lot of herbs can do liver damage in excess and combined with other herbs or medicines...

i guess on the 4th or 5th day u will start to notice things like ur skin clearing up, body functions become more regular, and some even say that their breath and body smell different... better...
and all around u feel better and have more energy... so... we shall see i guess...

Once again, as I said above, research it. Do not rely on the info on the package.Look for studies on it online. Ignore sources like websites that sell it.

Just by stopping the crap one ususal eats (if it's not mainly fruit and veggies and whole wheat/ unprocessed foods etc anyway) that will happen. It's just your body being happy to not be fed with crap everyday. Same happens when you start eating healthier for a few weeks, after a few days exactly that happens. It has nothing to do with detoxing though, just getting less stuff inside you that's actually bad.

i'm gonna *try* one of those healthier diets... probabley eat to live.
i want to get everything that i'd need for a couple meals and prepare them and stick them in the freezer... i think thats the only way i'd be able to stick to it... and the only way to prevent the fresh stuff from going bad

now if i can get my kids to go along with it... i'll be good to go

That sounds like a great plan, hon! There is some info on how to "feed" kids on the Fuhrman site, iirc.

Do you guys have a local farmer's market? I was thinking that if you took the kids and they helped you pick out the different fruits and veggies, they would be more likely to eat it. I also firmly believe in eating seasonal and local produce as much as possible.

Dude, try living in a place where the ground is frozen 6 months of the year. If I could only eat seasonal produce, I'd be awfully hungry in the winter.

I actually totally agree with you and try to eat local or at least Canadian as much as possible. Obviously it's less feasible in the winter (and spring, and fall...) but I try!

yes! i practically live at the farmers market! but in the summer i go to the amish road side stands because everything there is organic... and i like to help them out by buying from them...

right now joel will eat almost any kind of vegetable... the kid loves em.. he always did.. shawn on the other hand, gags when he has to eat vegetables... and that kid will sit at the table for an hour after dinner is over because i tell him he's not getting up until he at least tries to eat something... he's a stubborn lil thing.. so... now i have to make mashed potatoes with everything and he'll mix his veggies in with that to eat them.

i'm trying to get them out of the whole eating out habit... i hate to cook... and i hate the huge mess i always seem to make... so we always eat out.
so i guess if i make everythinig all at one shot and freeze it then all i'd have to do is just reheat everything..

Yeah! I forget how spoiled I am living in California. I really don't have an excuse.

BG: That's great that you have the road stands with organic produce. I always feel so much better giving my money to the grower even if it's a little bit more than at the grocery store. Freezing is good. Have you tried a slow cooker or pressure cooker? I love one pot meals.

I looove one pot meals too!
I don't have a slow cooker, but a big casserole, which I fill up and put into the oven until done.

Pressure cooking is great too. Lorna Sass has some great books. I have her book "Pressure Perfect" and haven't had one bad experience with the recipes. For slow cookers, I have the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook which is pretty good. I've had some bad experiences with a few of the recipes though.
