Is anyone trying Alli?

This new diet pill flew off the shelves today where I work & I've been wondering what all the hype is about. Supposedly it helps you lose more weight than you usually would, but you have to watch your fat intake.
myalli.com – home page

I am grossed out at some of the bad side effects (uncontrollable stool), but I am curious if anyone is going to try it.

i don't believe in taking pills to lose weight
that seems too easy
and losing weight is NEVER easy..

i don't think it's a good idea to try these pills, herbs etc.
some of them are just glorified laxatives, just imo

My dad took Xenical- Alli's predecessor- and again, I will reiterate, it was a MESS! Very stinky to say the least. These types of pills only work if you have already changed your diet habits and consume a very VERY low fat diet. Otherwise, you WILL have nasty oily discharge. My father thought a pill would work for him but didn't drastically change his fatty diet. It was so disgusting. The discharge looks orangy/yellow and is just plain nasty. Its gross but he would say it felt like you needed to fart but you knew you definitely could NOT or else it would be changing pants time. I can't even begin to describe how disgusting the bathroom (and hallway!!) smelled after he came out. The side effect just make it plain NOT WORTH IT in my opinion.

I wasn't aware that it had a predecessor. People are acting like its a new miracle invention & it just flew off the shelves.
OT, but you would not believe how many people actually try returning diet pills after they don't work.

No way in hell, you couldn't pay me to do it.

This pill is only recommended for people who are clinically obese anyway, which is nobody who can fit into designer denim!

It blocks absorption of fat. It's the same thing as Xenical, but in a lower dosage. The side effects have already been outlined. Pretty icky if you ask me.

Agreed 100%.

It's kind of ironic that to take the pill, you have to change your eating habits. And if you can change your eating habits, why not just do that and lose weight that way instead of leaking?

I have a friend who's taking them. She said that she hasn't had any side effects because she is watching her fat intake. I don't know if it will make her lose any faster than just low fat/low calorie though.

Think the "poopy pants" comes into play whenever someone just takes it and doesn't watch what they eat.

I agree. I always thought that about diet pills. They all say to change your eating habits.

I would rather weigh 200 pounds than have "poopy pants" as a side effect. Ewww.

Which is why it's so not worth wasting your money on them. I mean for the price of them, you can afford to buy things like pre-cut veggies, fruit salad, prepared chicken strips and things to cook tasty healthy meals super quickly!

Exactly. Then you don't have nasty side effects either

weird... whats NV?

I suggest pills with ephedrine + caffeine + white willow bark aka asprin.

Yes ephedrine may be bad for you, but thats if you overdose.

Quite a few summers ago I took Xenadrine (pre-recall) and man, that was the only stuff that ever worked. Too bad it was killing people, lol. Funny/sad thing is I think most people would still take it even if it came with a risk of heart problems. There's too much crap out there on the shelves anyway now a days. I've heard the same thing about NV- that it is pointless. Oh well, marketing is all that matters it seems because these worthless pills hang around for so long.

^ Yup, most diet pills in the past did work because of ephedra but now it's banned

Just a lower dose of Xenicle; which I've never used. I read about it though, and it seemed rather "messy."

Imagine trying it on one of those high-fat, low-carb diets.

This is where ignorance comes into play. "Ephedra products were killing people"

A couple people died because they were idiots and took too much or ran around in 100 degree weather. More people die a year from asprin.

Ephedrine has never been banned, I could run to Wal-Greens right now and buy it. Xenadrine, Metabolife and whatever else were simply 25mg ephedrine, 200mg caffeine and baby asprin. I can make that by buying stuff at Wal-Greens right now.

Want another Stacker II, Xenadrine, etc? Go buy some Bronk-Aid (25mg ephedrine) and NoDoz at the drug store.
