Anyone ever do Dr. Ian's Fat Smash Diet?

My boyfriend and I are going to start it on Tuesday (after we totally binge this weekend for Memorial Day! woo hoo!). I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this diet before? Dr. Ian is the doctor on VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club." The first 9 days you can only eat fruit and vegetables I think but in any qualtity you want. I'm going to pick up the book at Barnes and Noble today so I'll know more then...

Yeah...they all sound 'good' at first...then you actually start them and realize that the ONE thing you want is the ONE thing you can't have!!! GAH!

I'm joking...I just started South Beach and I'd kill someone for a potato and an orange about now! :-D

Good luck!

haha I know. Damn, what was that movie where the guy went on a date to a restaurant with a girl who was like "I'm on a low carb diet and I can only eat bread on weekends" and then proceeded to totally scarf all the breadsticks on the table like there was no tomorrow? hahahaha

I watch Celebrity Fit Club, and was wondering about that diet, but I've done South Beach before, so I was gonna stick with it. I'd love to know how it works for you and what types of things you can/can't have. Keep us posted. BTW, Dr Ian is HOT!!!

I just bought the book on my lunch break. I read what is requried during the first phase and its pretty hardcore. I totally pulled into Wendy's on the way home to have a burger ;)

Anyways, I'm going to the grocery store to get all my stuff tonight and am planning on starting tomorrow. I think I will be able to make it but I dunno abou tmy boyfriend. I can totally see him throwing down a carrot stick on day 3 yelling "this is crap (or some other expletive)" lol.

I might start a new thread on it and write about how it goes. You are welcome to join me Frisky!!!

Yeah I went to the store last night and dropped a wad of cash on "healthy" foods It really is amazing how expensive healthy food is compared to the junk out there. I did buy some more spices/herbs though since they are allowed- hopefully I can spice up the plain veggies some.

Anyways, today was day one for me. Its not so bad. I ate pretty often to keep myself full though. I had fruit basically all day and a yougurt cup and now for dinner I'm going to steam some vegetables and have the brown rice. Yummy Yummy! hehe. Its going to be a long 9 days.... lol, just kidding

The brown rice was good! Very filling. My boyfriend and I were surprised at how much 2 cups cooked turns out to be. I put some in the fridge for tomorrow. I bought Yoplait low fat yogurt (all fruit flavors) in the little 6 oz servings so its already measured out for me.

So far today I've had:
breakfast: banana, yogurt and a fruit cup
lunch: apple (I know that's not enough but I was really busy at work today and had no friggin time.. grr...)
dinner: cooked spinach with garlic and a little bit of EVOO, brown rice, and some corn
Dessert: chilled grapes

Tonight I'm going to make some hard boiled eggs and take the centers out so I can crumble them into my salad for tomorrow. And of course, chop up more raw veggies...

I made edamame last night for a snack and took the rest to work today- its really great! Fills you up SO much. I highly recommend it.

By the way, its Day 3.5 and my jeans are ever so slightly looser today. My boyfriend already looks like he dropped a few pounds. Last night at his softball game a few people told him he was lookin' good.

Ok today was day #1 for me. Yesterday i had a minor setback Breakfast was lite strawberry yogurt. Lunch was some raw veggies and an apple. I'm currently cooking brown rice to eat for dinner. The yogurt filled me up a lot more than i thought it was going to and i wasn't really hungry. Hoping the brown rice with a little tabasco sauce on top wont be too bad.

Oh wow that Fat Smash forum is great! Thanks for posting it Jody.

Frisky, the brown rice REALLY fills you up! I'm amazed really. I cheat a TAD a put a few splashes of soy sauce in mine. I also chop up onion, cook it up with some egg white and throw it with the rice for a (non)fried rice. It was good!

Tonight my boyfriend and I had stuffed peppers. Cut out middle of the peppers and fill with mixture. Mixture is made up of cooked brown rice, chopped onion, beans and chopped tomatos or tomato sauce from the can (I used the sauce so it would be wetter- but not too much!). I added some egg whites again just because I like 'em . Then, baked in oven at 350 for 30 minutes. It was really good. My boyfriend LOVED it!

What kind of brown rice are you using? The kind I bought came out HORRIBLE. I cooked it in my rice cooker and it came out overcooked both times and was disgusting. I'm not sure if i am doing something wrong but or if it was the kind i bought. It was an organic kind i got. I need to try that stuffed pepper recipe. Sounds good.

^oh no that stinks!!! No, mine comes out good every time thank goodness. I use "Uncle Ben's Fast & Natural Whole Grain Instant Brown Rice". It only takes 10 minutes and I just cook it in a saucepan on the stove. My boyfriend likes his rice a it firmer than I do so I just make ours in different pots and take his off a little earlier than mine.

I'm pretty sure brown rice cooks differently than white rice...I think it takes less time (or less water), I can't remember right now...

Today is Day 6 for me. Oh man I can't wait til Thursday! lol... I think I dream of chicken in my sleep now. Even though we are still not allowed bread in the next phase I am going to reward myself with a hamburger because after all these veggies- I deserve it!! I weighed myself on Sunday and was down 2 lbs. I think my boyfriend is down even more which is good. We're just starting to get a little bored with the food but now that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel we are psyched.

By the way, I have been sleeping SO much better these last few days and waking up in the morning has not been as difficult as it has been either. I definitely have more energy and its AMAZING how not hungry I am! No late night snacking AT ALL which was my main vice. Wow, healthy food really does work wonders I guess, lol!

My boyfriend weighed himself last night and he is down 6 lbs in one week! He's so pumped now, lol. He was just starting to complain that the diet was no fun and but once he saw how much he was already down he totally shut up and was like, pass me some salad!

Julez- I usually work out fairly regularly but actually the entire time I've been doing the FS diet I've been horribly busy at work so I haven't been able to get to the gym. I'm going to go tonight though to get back on track.

Just ordered the book and am going to join the gym tomorrow! I am officially kicking my ass into gear. I am excited about this diet since it is really what I already eat except I love cheese. That will be sad to give up but atleast I can have tofu and lentils.

I think generally with brown rice, you actually need more water than you would with white rice.
