raw food diet

once i go back to school in january, i definitely need to kick it into high gear. i want to totally cleanse my body of all of the shitty eating i've done over the holidays. someone suggested a raw food diet and said it's one of the best/healthiest ways to detox.

have any of you done the raw food diet? i'm afraid i'm going to get super sick of it. although, i did cut out most complex carbs for about two months, so i guess if i can do that and rarely have cravings, i can do this.

how long should i do the raw diet for detoxing purposes? i want to lose a good amount of weight and obviously the more time it takes to come off, the more likely it is to keep it off (in my case, anyways), so i'm not expecting a few days of eating raw fruits & veggies to be the miracle answer. i just want it to serve as a jump start into eating mostly vegetarian, organic, all natural food.

why would/did you cut out complex carbs?

i'm personally not a fan of diets. but imo the best way to detox is to regularly eat a lot of foods with antioxidants, vitamin c, and omega-3. Oh yeah, and stay hydrated.

Idk about this diet in particular but, imo, dieting isn't a very good idea - it's unhealthy - just eat when your hungry, eat healthfully, and let your body do what it wants to do. No "detoxing" necessary!

what exactly is the big appeal to an abrupt detox anyway? i'd think it would eff up your body's metabolism. agree with the above, dieting as in changing your diet in a way you can persist with is, imo, much better than shocking your body.

I did this once. I ate nothing but raw veggies, fruits, and whole grains (I did eat peanut butter and salad dressing, though) All I drank was water and V8. I lost 10 lbs. I only did this for 2-3 weeks. Of course some of the weight came right back when I stopped/started drinking again. But I did look damn good for that period of time. I only gained about 5 lbs back.

i don't get it either, and it will mess with your metabolism.

i'm hoping she meant "simple" carbs, but even those shouldn't be completely eliminated, just in small quantities. depriving the body of essential COMPLEX carbs is a recipe for disaster. you NEED carbs.

You don't need any kind of diet to detox, the liver does a great job detoxifying your body with no help from outside.

Raw food diet it's just a trend, in my opinion; it's simply not viable if you have a busy life with school and work. It takes a lot of planning in order to get all the macro/micronutrients.
Set a few small, realistic goals and work hard to stay on track. Start with things like: no soft drinks, eat 3 meals/day, no fast food (or only once/week)....These are realistic goals, once you've achieved them get on to bigger things.

Along with berries, orange, peach masks and grape fruit, celery contain pectin a form of fiber that can cause you to feel bigger for hours, Think of them as little proteins tanks....

Yes raw and organic diet is the best for the health.
Replace your processed and junk diet plan with the raw and organic diet plan if you want to get more vitamins and nutrition to maintain the health and fight against the diseases.
