I tried it for about a month.

The food was not bad, and it helped to limit portion sizes and get used to having smaller meals.

I found it hard to do when we were going out to eat, or eating at someone else's house. Also, going out of town was hard. Obviously, these things are challenging for any type of diet.

Overall, I'd probably do it again. The food was decent and it wasn't too expensive.

Be prepared that you have to add a lot of stuff though, so you still have to grocery shop and 'prepare' things such as fruits, veggies, dairy, other proteins, etc.

Given the size listed on your siggy I'm wondering what possesses you to think you need to be on a diet

One of my housemates did Nutrisystem for awhile and I think it would have worked well for her had she also curtailed her habit of getting high off Ambien and then pigging out late at night...

I did nutrisystem in college and lost 15 pounds--that wicked Freshman 15!! It averaged out to be about $100 per pound lost. The same result with Jenny Craig before my wedding. Went from 120 to 108 at the price of about $100 per pound!!

I am a 27/28 my dr says I have to be on a diet cause I am high risk for type 2 diabetes. Everyone has their own situation so it's better not to question why someone wants to lose weight. It could be cause she wants to eat healthier, doesn't have time to cook, etc..

My husband is a type 1 diabetic and has lost 15 pounds on it so far. He likes the food and says the portions aren't too bad. You still have to buy fresh fruit and veggies in addition to the food that they give you. He cheats a lot, but is still losing weight.

I highly recommend weight watchers instead, and they have the smartones you can buy at the grocery store in the freezer section if you need something easy and quick. Weight Watchers is just easier to live with I think

My boss went on nutrisystem for awhile. She ended up hating the food and throwing most of it out, or giving it to people in the office.

I also suggest weight watchers. It works out really well, you end up tracking all your food intake, and you end up losing more weight, at least thats my opinion. I did it senior year in highschool and lost 35 pounds. I hated going to the meetings, so i started the online program. I'm actually restarting it right now (joining today) so that i can fit into all my jeans by christmas! I think us WW girls should start a thread....

A thread would be awesome! We do PM's now, but it's hard to 'reply all' through PM. Or maybe I just haven't figured out how to do it?

I would be careful with nutrisystem. It has a lot of sodium in it, unless you are planning on doing the diabetic one which SHOULD have less sodium and be based on a glycemic index.

You could also just try eating healthy and follow a regular gycemic index diet. Would probably be a lot cheaper and will teach you portion control. A food scale would be great assistance

You never know how tall a person is either. A 27 on a 5ft tall person looks different than a 27 on someone 5'10".

Also, used Nutrisystem last year. Lost my first 35 pounds with them, then went on my own for the last 40 pounds. Don't ask, my thyroid died and I ballooned very quickly. As I am now doing on Lyrica.
Food was meh, that's how I lost it, I just lost interest in food cuz it wasn't that tempting. Still have a drawerful of it.

I got some of the older food to try out from Big Lots and it was SO EFFING DISGUSTING. But I'm guessing that's why it was being sold for cheap at Big Lots. My mom lost 50+ pounds on Weight Watchers, and it's super easy and convenient! I would try it out. You don't even need to go to meetings or buy any special food.

I see those Nutrisystem infomercial type ads all the time, I always wondered if it really was as good as they were claiming.

I've been on Nutrisystem for a month and have already lost 10 pounds. I actually like the food. The portion size took a little while to get used to, but I hardly ever get hungry. You can get a customized plan so you can only order the foods that you think you'll like. I only have 5 pounds to go, and I'll probably keep using the food to maintain my weight. If you have any more questions or need a referral, PM me.
