Coffee Advice :)

I'm trying to be healthy, tone up, and lose some weight. I've read mixed thoughts on coffee and I was wondering how everyone felt about how it affects weight and the ability to tone up?

I usually drink only one cup a day. I use non-fat half & half and a sugar free torani syrup. I don't necessarily *need* the coffee, but I really enjoy it when I get to work and start to read AF

Any advice and thoughts are greatly appreciated!

i really don't think there is anything wrong with one cup of coffee per day.

especially if it feels indulgent to you and curbs your need for other indulgences.

coffee is a diuretic and a stimulant, in moderation it is healthy and even beneficial to the body. If you are drinking one cup a day as you doing, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

I don't see a problem with drinking it in moderation and working out. I have some caffeinated creatine that I take prior to workout. Not sure if it is the caffeine but it can really make a positive difference for my endurance during a work out where I am lifting. For running/hiking and more aerobic exercises I usually drink coffee in the morning and then do those at later in the day. Otherwise my heart races to much and it is not really comfortable for me.

Caffeine will boost your workout But it is a diuretic, so make sure you drink water as well. I always drink a cup of coffee before a hard workout

uhm... what about 4 cups (1 large mug) of coffee a day? does it become counterproductive in that amount?

If your 4 cups are actually a litre of coffee... that's too much. But if it's really just a regular large mug (500 mL) it's probably not bad.

I don't think it's an issue of weight though, but health in general, unless you are putting cream or sugar (or a lot of artificial sweetener).

uh oh. i use coffee mate as creamer and i like my coffee SWEET. also, i have starbucks doubleshot or venti caramal macchiato every other day... what would be a "healthier" alternative?

there have been many studies that show a moderate amount of coffee (2-3 cups per day) is actually beneficial to your cognitive and heart health.

as long as you aren't loading on the sugar and heavy cream, it's actually good for you! so drink up

...and flammable toxins such as coffee mate . How could anyone do that to a harmless cup of coffee?

I don't drink coffee, but my bf puts 7 packs of sugar and 3 creamers in his 8oz cup of coffee....It never gets old to ask him if he wants some coffee with his sugar, lol.

what is torani? is it like an agave syrup? imo, all that sacchrine or aspartame stuff is even worse than sugar. agave is really good. i use it in my tea. my coffee i drink with soymilk.

It's an acquired taste, once you get used to it sugar will seem out of place. To me, adding sugar to coffee is like adding sugar to green tea.

I used to drink it black, no sugar.
That with irregular meals caused gastric ulcers.
Now I do lattes or if I'm home, I make sure my coffee has lots of milk in it.

oh boy
i drink way too much coffee and coffee related beverages.
from the time i get up (early..usually by 4:30 am).. pretty much all throughout the day- i stop around 6 or 7
if i go out to dinner, i drink more.
