That question is impossible to answer. It depends on how long the person's legs are. I am 5'7" and wear a 34" inseam with flats but I know other girls that are 5'7" and wear a 30" inseam with flats.
But being that you're 5'3" I'm going to go ahead and make a safe assumption that 30" inseam will fit you better than 32" inseam. Unless you have legs that are like 3/4 the length of your body.
I'm between 5'4" and 5'5" and I wear 30" inseam in diesels (I'm a guy but that doesn't really matter in regards to inseam length). As a matter of fact, 30" inseams are usually a touch on the longer side for me (since they tend to run longer than marked anyway). And my legs aren't short for my height. If anything, they're a bit on the longer side compared to my torso.
I just ordered a pair of lowkys with a 32" inseam from Smash Boutique. I live in a city where you don't have a lot of variety when it comes to Diesels so not a lot to try on but yeah, I guess it is kinda hard considering people are shaped differently.
Well since they're straight legs and are too long, you can always let them stack. I personally am a fan of the stacked look. If you like it clean and straight and do not care for stacking, you can always hem them. But if the distressing (if there is any) will be displaced too much by hemming (knee fades coming halfway down your shins) then you're best off exchanging them for a shorter length.
thanks for the info! If I get lucky, maybe I have freakishly long legs and won't have to LOL. Yeah, I have a feeling I might just get them hemmed or exchange them.
How long your inseams are also depends on how low you ride your jeans. I'm not sure how everyone else does it but I'm 5'7" and I go with 30" inseams, with the hems actually touching the ground most the time. And I actually do ride my jeans relatively low.
I'm kinda confused. Wouldn't a 32 inch inseam be 32 inches long regardless of the brand? As long as the rise was close to the same, I don't see why one would work and one wouldn't. I look for at least 34 inch inseams regardless of the brand. And I'm just under 5'10"
I must be thinking too hard about this...I would think 32 inches is 32 inches is 32 inches...regardless. It doesn't matter how long your legs are...32 inches is still 32 inches.
I thought this as well till I tried on a pair of diesels that were 32" long and still seemed long. A pair of Mavi's that are 32" long are perfect for me. I think it might have to do with the rise but Mavi jeans rises tend to go from 6.5"-7".
I'll wait and see how my jeans fit though. I think the Rohnars that I tried on in the store were 32" but when I tried them on they were 33.5" as someone has said in here.
Rise should play no factor at all in inseam length, since rise is measured from the bottom of the crotch to the top of the waistband (front for front rise, back for back rise).
Inseam length is measured from the seam at the bottom of the crotch down to the bottom of the jean. The reason for inseams from Diesel appearing longer than marked or longer than other jeans with the same marked length is as stated above. Diesel will list jeans as a certain inseam length (30L, 32L, 34L), but they usually tend to truly measure ~1" longer than marked. A.K.A. a 32L will actually measure ~33".
Not ALL diesels are like this though. The inseam length will vary from wash to wash, and also sometimes from pair to pair. Some are longer than marked, some are exactly as marked.
There's also a few (very few to my knowledge) Diesels whose inseams will measure shorter than marked.
inseam is so weird with the cut and wash. zatiny 8jq actually runs half an inch short. some run almost 2" long. i can't count how many 32" tags measure 33 to 33.5" on the inseam.
Just like everyone else said, it depends on the length of your legs. I'm 5'7" and I have a 32" inseam with flats.
