| | | how do i care for my Coach purse?
I just got my first coach purse. I need to know how to take care of it. It has suade on it. Can i pre-treat the suede and the fabric with something to protect it from dirt and such? I am just so nervous, i haven't even put my things into it yet. It's so pretty BTW, this is what it looks like. TIA! oh, and this may sound like a stupid question, but i am supposed to take off that little leather coach tag, right?

As far as caring for it... The suede will be the most difficult part to keep clean. Thankfully, it's a dark color, so you're somewhat in luck . You won't be able to prevent it from getting dirty, but what you may want to do is pick up some leather/suede protectant that will at least keep it from getting water damage should you get caught in the rain  . Check out stores like Foot Locker, City Sports, Clark's, Berk's, or any other sporting/outdoor/leather goods store for the spray. Coach makes a leather cleaner, but nothing to clean suede that I'm aware of.
As far as the jacquard (signature fabric) goes, if you get a stain, a little soap and warm water should help. You can also bring it into a Coach store and they will clean it for you (they may have to send it out, so you'll be without it for a few weeks). Do not use Shout Wipes or any of those other detergent spot cleaners/treaters because you will risk bleaching/staining/discoloring your bag.
Oh, and keep the hangtag on! You don't have to take it off, but if you want, it also makes a cute keychain/keyfob.

| | thanks Anna. you are a big help. And i am so excited, as i love the rish browns in this purse. i jsut wish the suede was leather instead. i am awful hard on purses.
and i am in luck. i have some leather/suede protector already.
So, i don't need to treat the fabric then? awesome
oh, and thanks about the coach tag-so, i can keep it on, or take it off, right?

| | You shouldn't have to treat the fabric. I've been caught in the rain with signature bags before, and they don't get water-stained. I spilled soda on one of my bags before and some soap, water, and a hairdryer helped get it back to new.
Hangtag is up to you -- on or off -- either works Coach sells some really cute charms that you can use instead of the hangtag |
