LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SHOW! I haven't read the books, but I am quite enjoying the series. Sean Bean has always been kind of hot to me. I think my favorite character is Tyrion Lannister (little fella).

I am thinking about getting the books. Has anyone read them here?

I'm watching it!! The show so far is doing a really excellent job of sticking to the story while eliminating unimportant details! I'm sad the direwolves only make brief appearances though
I read most of the first book.. it has a lot of details (names of all the different lands, people & how they're related to one another, etc) to absorb so it might seem a bit overwhelming but you get used to it. It starts off slow but gets faster paced. I don't see myself reading all 7 books or however many there are in the series though I'd borrow the first one to see how you like it before you invest in the whole series. It's a lot of reading.

love how sean bean gets "that" role every time.

fucking HELL YES pushing bran out that goddamn window.

also i think jaime and cersei should look more alike, and that she was supposed to be hotter.

bran is not that old, sansa isn't either (and is NOT supposed to be hot), arya is perfect, joffrey seems cast excellently, dany is hawt

Read the first book and am halfway through the second. excellent series so far.

Only watched the first episode, but aside from the ages being slightly off, I think they do a pretty decent job.

Looking forward to catching up on the next few episodes.

I haven't read the books but I ordered them. I'm going to wait till this season is over to read them, though.

I can't wait to see what that sniveling little inbred prince is going to do next. Hate him so much <3

Carol, apparently the dogs they are using as direwolves are barely trained and hard to work with so that may have something to do with it.

To those of you that have read ALL of the books SPOILER:

I stumbled across the spoiler that Ned gets beheaded. Is that in the first book?

edited with pretty colors, sorry c8.

^first book

I'm watching and loving it. I've read the first book, working through the series. I say that like it's a chore, but it's not, I just have to grab my reading time when I can, lol.

I figure they adjusted the ages of the children so it wouldn't be as scandolous to modern viewers? a 13 year old betrothed is easier to stomach than an 11 year old? a 10 year old being thrown out a window is easier to take than a 7 year old? Dunno, was just my thoughts, Dany is older than she should be too I think, but I think she's doing brilliantly.

Oh boo They couldn't find better trained dogs? sad.

I think Arya matches the closest with how I expected the characters to be like. I'm waiting to see how they do the scene where (SPOILER ALERT) -->

Daenery's dragons hatch and where she walks out of the fire unscathed!

I've read the 4 books that are out & pre-ordered the 5th. I really, really like the series! My favorite is Tyrion

So far, I like the show, but I think it may be hard to follow if you're not familiar with it at all.

my favorites (highlight to see, LAST FEW PAGES OF BOOK 4 SPOILERS ETC)

my favorites were cersei and jaime until book 3 when he becomes a whiny weasel and it's revealed she's actually insane instead of super smart. the cersei i loved would have never let herself get imprisoned by the high septon. now it's tyrion and daenerys

Thank you! Ok SPOILER FROM BOOK 4 HIGHLIGHT TO READ

I liked Cersei in the first few books too. I never thought she was evil; I always felt like she was sort of justified in her actions. She was primarily acting out of self-preservation. In AFFC, Martin for whatever reason, decided to have her going crazy over the silly prophecy & she's starting to get sloppy i.e. getting taken by the High Septon.

Also, Martin is apparently trying to rehab Jaime's character to make him more appealing. I liked him in the earlier books the way he was & I still sort of like the new Jaime I think he's been really nice to Brienne & I like her too.

As far Tyrion, I can't wait for book 5 in July to see how he is! I've been so worried I'm interested to see if HBO will have Tyrion's nose the way it's supposed to be in the books or if they decide to leave that part out.

BOOK FOUR SPOILERS CONTINUE

she's certainly evil in the sense that she fucks over anyone and everyone to stay in power and sometimes even just for fun. AFFC certainly made her more evil - e.g. qyburn, which i thought was awesome and totally in character - but yeah she's coming across as crazy with the tyrion and prophecy shit. i don't like whiny rehab'd jaime. i like old jaime! tyrion obvs is winning - tyrion and cersei both have the lannister spirit of do anything to achieve your own ends... it's just now they're different ends.

i also love littlefinger and even like alayne. i'm sad no arya in 5

Last night was sort of exposition central but at the same time I didn't mind that at all. Liked the relationship/rapport between Jon Snow and Sam. Loved seeing Dany put the smack down on brother dear.

^^Are those 10 episodes just for the first season? I read somewhere that they already got the go ahead for a second season.

I really want to read the books, but have heard that the author has been saying he was going to finish the 5th book years ago and hasn't.

Yes, 10 episodes for the first season = first book. The fifth book is on amazon as a preorder for July, so it's now finished, but I believe it did take 6 years. If you want them cheap, you can get the 1st 4 for less than $20 on amazon. I was going to kindle them but the ebooks are nearly twice the price

here's the set.

Amazon.com: George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones 4-Book Boxed Set: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire) (9780345529053): George R.R. Martin: Books
