Celebrity Rehab had approached him 10 days ago about being on the show. He vehemently denied that he had a drug problem and refused to go.

Call me heartless if you will, but I am really getting tired of hearing people be "sad" and pitying the death of a "celebrity" due to drug addiction. Ledger, Boner, Brittney and Lucas lately. The long list really goes all the way back to the inception of cinema. Don't get me wrong, my point here is NOT that drug addiction isn't a SERIOUS DISEASE (I have a close relative in rehab currently). My point is that everyone comes on here and says how awful they feel, and how terrible it is... but the truth is that MOST of us would NOT think for one second to help a "crackhead" laying in the gutter as we drive by...as a matter of fact, I am sure your first reaction is "OMG, loser, dirtbag, piece of shit, fill the blank with whatever you want". When was the last time you cared if addict that lives in your own community killed themselves w/ drugs and or alcohol? I would guess that answer for most is NEVER! What makes Corey Haim's life more important than an everyday addict? Maybe instead of wasting our time personally and as a country talking about how tragic it is that one washed up basically never has been managed to snort himself into oblivion, we should focus our attention to the MILLIONS of addicts right in front of us. For every one glamourized Hollywood train wreck that dies, we have 1,000 CHILDREN in this country that dies as well... and nobody gave a shit about them. And by that I mean REALLY tried to help...Just think it's a joke.

Something to think about.....

Hell just froze over, 'cause I think I agree with Carolina.

I say, "I think" only cause I did not want to read the whole novella.

This is sad, but no sadder than the story of other drug addicts who die from their addictions. But no, I don't think "loser, scumbag, piece of shit" when I see someone on the streets, either.

Carolina, get over yourself. I feel for every addict out there whether they are famous or not. I feel for anyone suffering from ANY kind of disease whether it's depression, cancer, drug addiction, etc. Carry this psychobabble of yours somewhere else. Perhaps a forum where people give a shit about what you've got to say.

Despite differing opinions, I do think it's tragic and sad. I, too, feel for anyone struggling with addiction, famous or not. There's a wide variety of unhealthy addictions and there are so many tormented souls just looking for happiness, acceptance, and answers....

The thing is drug addiction is exactly that.. A DRUG ADDICTION. I feel more for the family. Everyone who ends up passing away from a drug addiction really is their own doing..they either put that pipe to their own mouth or decide to swallow all those pills or decide to shoot their selfs up....no one put a gun in their hand!! Who I truly feel sorry and sympathy for are all the family members or friends that loved this person and are left behind with this tragic ending!!! It's another life ended to soon...PERIOD!!

Brittany Murphy's cause of death was not drug abuse, nor was Andrew Koenig's.

How about the large amount of people that get hooked to prescription drugs they were initially legally prescribed

that is pretty much my opinion... i dont really pity those junkie asking for a buck or two to "take the bus home". i mean.... they chose to go down that path

just to be clear. i am talking about the ppl who "choose" to do drugs.... no medical conditions that require drugs or wutever.........

How about don't make assumptions about what I think when I see people in the street and I won't make assumptions about this ridiculous rant?

Why can't people be sad that a celebrity is dead? What does it matter how they died? Can't people mourn someone they were entertained by regardless of how they died?

Just because there are thousands of drug addicts out there doesn't mean it's any less sad that one (who happened to be a celebrity) died.
