I wouldn't go that far (I actually love U2). But stuff like this makes me wonder why the band keeps doing deals with corporate entities like MTV (wholly owned by media giant Viacom), Blackberry and Apple.
I liked the band's iPod commercials a few years back (U2 refused compensation for doing the ads; the only money the band made was royalties off songs that were preloaded onto a special U2 iPod).
I don't know what "business" arrangements U2 has with Viacom and Research In Motion (Blackberry's parent company), but it inevitably leads to stuff like this.
