Were the VMAs an Occult Ritual!?

This is so weird... I just finished reading this and it's pretty crazy...

I just read the article and a little bit of the comments.

I don't really know what to believe. I mean looking back on the VMA's I could understand a person's perception of symbolism linked to satan but who knows it might have just been played out that way.

Sometimes I think people [like the writer of the article] can really be reaching for things, but some of the stuff, like Pink's costume and some of the other images seem like too much of a coincedence... i duno. His other article about Lady Gaga on his website is pretty creepy too!!!

Complete conspiracy-theory bullshit.
IMO, of course.

Wow, that was interesting. You know, I'm not really sure what to think either. I am a conspiracy theorist at heart () but ordinarily I'd brush this stuff off as ridiculous. Very interesting at the least, and now I'm spending time reading a bunch of the comments. One thing I do agree with though (and yeah, this is admittedly a little heavy for AF) is the comment that says "The biggest trick Satan ever pulled is convincing us he isn't real." But, that's just how I feel of course.

I agree. Might be too heavy for AF but I totally agree.

I’ve been following Kanye’s career since his beginnings and I’ve retained one important fact about him: the only thing Kanye West cares about, is Kanye West. So if he had to throw a hissy fit about something, it would about him not winning. Not Beyonce. Him.

ITA...entire article makes no logical sense whatsoever. The "blood sacrifice" of Lady Gaga was just based on a song/music video of the same theme.
Where is the blood sacrifice in all of the other VMA shows? Pink's performance of "Sober" is done that way on her tour, the blindfold is representative of staying out all night and "Sun is blinding" after taking it off.

"It focused on a very limited number of artists (Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga), while ignoring many others who were equally successful. The “chosen” artists became characters in the VMA’s ceremony and acted out different ritual dramas."
Um...all award shows give the featured "stars" of the year more attention is given to the more dramatic of the performances.

The masonic lodge conspiracy theories are nuts. A lot of them stem from the fact that to be initiated you have to state a belief in God, but do not have to be a Christian/believe in Jesus.

ETA: Under Dana ^YES! Even though I didn't watch the VMA's (for so many reasons- because I have better things to do, they are long and boring, they feature music I don't like) the main thing that's always annoyed me is all of the staged crap. Regardless of whether or not there is a hidden motive, to me it is obvious that the whole Kanye thing was staged.

Jasmin. I'm completely aware that almost everyone would disagree but it's nice to not be bashed.

You think it was staged? I didn't even think of that...

In the Kanye/Taylor Swift/VMA thread I said I thought it was staged. But I think almost anything that deals with the VMAs are staged. Obviously that may be too extreme of a stance.

How is "the greatest trick Satan ever pulled" thing too deep for AF? The people here on the whole are very well-educated.

He did the same thing at an awards show in Europe several years ago and is known for throwing fits after award shows. Not to mention the Katrina thing.
Give Kanye a mic and its almost guaranteed he will say something stupid...this worked to MTVs advantage, but I don't think they had to script anything.

Neither of us used the word "deep." I'm well aware that the majority of AFers are well educated and intelligent people. By "heavy" I meant serious, dark, not light hearted like most content here. I guess it was my way of saying I know topics that involve religion are controversial. A disclaimer of sorts...I don't mean to step on anyone's toes.

what do you guys think of the fact that pretty much everyone at the award show was wearing either black, white or silver, with the 3 leading ladies in red? is that not weird? IMO its a little strange... award shows are usually full of unique colorful outfits...

Oops. I went back and re-read, and I used the wrong word (obviously). Sowwies.
And I don't think you could step on anyone's toes Hannah. You are a total sweetheart.
