| | | Celebrity Splurges I'm watching the Fabulous Life on VH1 and its Celebrity Splurges.
Man, its insane the things they buy! For Beyonce's bday, Jay Z had bees at her party. I think that's a little ridiculous. He could have used that money for charity.
I'm just a sucker for charity I guess, I'm always thinking that why can't celebrities spend their extra money by giving it to people in poverty? It would help out so much.
I've always said that if I was a celebrity, yeah I would pamper myself, but definately not to the extent that a lot of celebrities do. I would go around to impoverished areas of the country, and give cash to people that need it, or go and buy cars and groceries and clothes and give them to people that need it the most.
Eh, okay this is a lame post haha. I just always think this way when I see the Fabulous Life of. Of course I'm always wishing that I could live like celebrities.
Oh the life.

| | | Oh, I so agree with you!!!! These are the same people who encourage us to give "whatever we can" for whatever the cause of the moment may be. I swear if just some (not even all) of these celebrities pooled some (not even all) their money together they could save so many Impoverished countries. Not only with their money but their clout as well. What shining examples they could be for so many. I know many of them have thier own "foundations" and that is nice, but they could do better with their money than having some foundation named after them. Geesh, I wonder how many homes could be built for Katerina victims with just the money it costs to throw an over the top b-day party. I am all for giving back and just simply giving what you can, we are all human.
Ok enough said, I will get off my soapbox in a denim forum!!!!! LOL!!! |

| | | I'm jealous, too. I watched this special called Spoiled Rich Kids on MuchMusic the other day, and wow. Just wow. Me likey.
Anyway, I'm sure that a lot of celebrities do put portions of their money to good causes, but you'd better believe that it just doesn't make exciting news. I.e., People would much rather hear about Britney flashing her chocha getting out of the car than which charities she donates to.
Also, I'm sure that a lot of people (celebrity or not) just don't care to publicise their charitable actions. After all, charity for the sake of anything other than charity ... |

| | | I agree, nsynchic! I thought I heard somewhere that Donald Trump and Melania (?) were given a Rolls Royce as a wedding gift. Come on! Give me a break! That money could be given in their name to charity.
Not that I'll ever have that kind of money, but if I did I would go by this rule: Whatever outlandishly expensive item I purchased (i.e. Hermes Birkin, uber-expensive car, etc.) I would donate an equal amount to charity.

| | | Celebrities want their charitable business to remain private (for the most part) because they don't want every sorry-ass, lazy moocher hitting them up for money!
Celebrities give an enormous amount of money each year to all sorts of worthwhile causes. So do normal people like me. We adopted a family for Christmas and spent the same on those kids as we did on our own.
I love seeing how celebrities spend their money! Even though what they do for work requires NO effort, I do love to see how they spend the money WE give them!!

| | | I'm sure people who don't buy designer clothes say the same about spending hundreds (thousands, for those handbag people) on fabric.
Most celebrities do give to charities, but it's not like they are frugal with their money so they can give it all to worthy causes.

It was so disgusting I had to turn it off halfway though --the girl had already spent over $700k US 10 minutes in.

| | | I saw a TV show about people who had won the lottery. This one man won $300-something million. He has it invested and makes $40,000 A DAY in interest. He says when he buys something expensive, he just doesn't spend money for how ever many days it takes to make up what he spent. Which is usually less than 2 days.
With what most well know entertainers make, you can invest and spend to astronomical proportions! It is a never ending money tree for those who are smart!!

I think buying your teenager (who is a new driver) a $60,000 car is stupid. They should get them a new Honda or Acura. So if they total the car.....it isn't $60,000 down the drain. |

WOW, that is so smart. He will never be broke again and neither will his children, and their children, etc. If that guy keeps investing, that amount he has accumulated will grow so fast, then he will make like $80,000 a day (just an estimate). I wish I would be smart like that if I won. But I think I would go crazy for awhile buying a house and new car. |

Gawd, those kids are such brats, it's hilarious to watch them cry when they think things aren't going to go their way (unfortunately, things always end up going their way). Quote:

I disagree about the no-effort part...I've been on movie sets and whatnot and met people in film industry and they work their asses off for the most part.

| | | The new season of Super Sweet 16 aired last night and the girl got a $96,000 jaguar! How frickin' unnecessary is that?!?!?
Is it just me or does every kid on that show get a new car now? It's all the same... they have a HUGE party thrown for them, they get a semi-famous celebrity to perform or they perform themselves, then in the middle of the party, their parents make this huge announcement... "We have a surprise for you!" and everyone in the crowd runs outside like they don't know what the surprise will be!
Give me a break!

| | | David and Victoria Beckham paid a butler $2000 on Christmas to open their presents for them...now i love the Beckhams but that is just silly. First off it is a total waste of money, secondly it takes away from the pleasure of Christmas.
While i agree that if i had money i would indulge myself...some people just go overboard a little too much... |

| | | ^that's totally bizarre. I love watching my loved ones open their gifts so that i can see their face when they see what I worked so hard to get for them...i can't imagine paying someone to take that pleasure away from me.

Maybe they get alot of gifts delivered and they just don't have the time to go through them all? I would hope this didn't occur with the giver sitting right there... |
