| | | Maple Syrup Diet? I'm 5'4" and wear a size 28/29 in jeans. Basically, I'm trying to go back to my "pre-depo-provera" size of 26/27. I've read a bit about the Maple Syrup diet that Beyonce has gone on. Has anyone ever tried it? Does it work? |

| | | Thanks. I was kind of skeptical of it.
Hehe, some genes are a bit more powerful than the ideal of "exercise and eating right". I need that extra oomph, you know? |

Beyonce's maple syrup diet warning
18 August 2006
Pop star Beyonce Knowles has issued a warning about the maple syrup diet, after previously praising it for helping her lose weight.
The singer lost 6 kilos in 10 days on the diet, which involves drinking a combination of maple syrup, lemon juice, water and cayenne pepper up to 10 times a day.
British health food shops have reported massive rises in the sale of the Madal Bal brand of maple syrup on which the diet is based.
But Beyonce now insists "I'm very happy with my curves" and has warned women to eat sensibly, despite using the diet to lose weight for her role in the movie Dreamgirls.
In an interview on the BBC Breakfast programme on BBC1, the 24-year-old said: "I would never recommend it to anyone unless you are doing a movie and it's necessary, and you have proper help.
"There are ways to lose weight healthily if you want to lose weight, but this was for a film."
In a separate interview with GMTV, Beyonce said she ate doughnuts "and all the other things" to return to her former weight.
"I'm very conscious of being a curvy woman and I'm very happy that I am a curvy woman."
Nutritionists say the syrup does not contain sufficient nutrients and dieters could end up in hospital if they use it for more than few days. |

| | | Oh lol thats called Detox Tea what she did. I did that years ago way before Beyonce and IMO its short term. It pretty much cleans out your system somehow and you basically get rid of water weight but it specified you were not supposed to do this diet more than 48 hours at a time plus gave you fruits and veggies you were supposed to eat with it. I dont know how long Beyonce did this diet for. I lost about 5 lbs cause i was going to an Xmas party. |

| | | quote from Beyonce:
"I lived on water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for 14 days. It was tough; everyone was eating and I was dying."
doesnt sound healthy AT ALL...sure you will lose weight, but once you start eating real food again all of the weight will pile on again. it takes eating right and exercising to lose weight in a healthy manner...you will lose slowly, but the weight will stay off b/c of your new lifestlye changes. |

Omg I would have died if I'd had to do that for 14 days . 48 hours was bad enough and that was eating fruits and veggies with it. How the hell did she survive without food? |

| | I've done this as a de-tox. And yeah, you definitely lose weight...it's impossible to NOT lose weight when you're only taking in like 300-500 calories per day. But it's not something to do as a way to lose weight, and you will just gain it back once you start eating again. I've done it 4 times (pretty much once a year) to flush out my system and I'm not going to lie...it's freaking HARD! Let's see, I did 3 days the 1st time, 5 days the 2nd, 7 days the 3rd time, and 10 days the last time I did it.
Definitely don't do it for an "oomph" to get you started either...you'll just gain it all back and then some, because you're so sick of liquid all you want is eat solid food...LOT'S of solid food.
Keri said it best, eat right and excercise...but of course...expend more calories than you take in...otherwise you will STILL gain weight!
Good luck! |

| | | If you want a sustainable diet, I'm definitely a fan of South Beach. It's a way to change your way of eating for good. Anything that involves drastically changing your food intake in a way that you don't plan to maintain is going to end up with you gaining back the weight you lost. It's also pretty dangerous to do a fast unless you can afford to take it easy for the whole time (driving a car is dangerous when you haven't eaten, for the record...I discovered this the hard way!)
