South Beach, anyone?

Anybody trying to clean up their eating habits/lose a little weight & want to support each other?
I was on vacation in Germany for 3 weeks and put on a few unwelcome pounds, and I'm doing the SBD with my boyfriend- the goal is to stop eating refined sugar & flour and get healthier eating habits that I'll keep once the school year starts. And hopefully lose 8-10 lbs in the process!
I'm on my 6th day of no sugar, no refined flour/carbs, and no (gulp) alcohol. It's definitely a contrast from the beer/cheese/bread/sausagefest that was going on 24/7 while we were in Deutschland!

Anyway, is anyone else in the same boat? My motivation is buying a new pair of jeans (believe if or not, I haven't purchased any denim for myself in a little over a month!) once I hit my goal and maintain it for a week.

Hey Jess, great to see you again!

What kind of new gorgeous jeans are you going to buy once you've reached your goal?

I'll do it with you, just because I found out my family on my dad's side (which I resemble more) gets osteoporosis as early as 30 in the women, and heart conditions all around, so I definitely need a leaner and healthier diet than Taco Bueno and Ihop-esque fair at home (everything my mil cooks is saturated in about 1/4 lb of butter)

Keri- awesome I'm a few days away from that lovely time of the month, so I'm definitely going through a willpower test. So far, so good, though!

Kirie- Not sure yet...I've been away for (what seems like) so long that I'm not especially denim crazy. I knew that HF was turning me into a shopaholic, and now there's proof! I'll start trying to pick out my dream pair once I get closer to my goal.

Hey Keri- just so you know, osteoporosis is much more likely to strike women who maintain a weight of 125 or less throughout life... so losing weight wouldn't really help here. :-) Being healthier never hurt anyone though, eh? Good luck!!

all this talk of taco bueno....if I had a car, I'd been in the drive through line with a beef nacho salad sitting on my lap waiting to be eaten...

South Beach Diet

I started the SBD a few months ago. I had ballooned up to 150 lbs and was tired of being FAT! I'm a complete shopoholic and I had stopped because I disgusted myself when I tried on clothes and saw that I had gone up a size or two. So I just woke up one day and decided I was going to do it. The first two weeks were definately hard, but I lost 10 lbs in that two week period. You're hungry a lot because you don't have all the bread and pasta to keep you full, but then you eat more often which keeps your metabolism working all day. Now that I've been on it for a few months, I don't even think of it like a diet anymore, it's just the way I eat now. I do slip up every now and then and have some littel something that I'm not supposed to have, but for the most part, it's really not hard to stick to. All you have to do is modify things a little and you can have most of what you did before. I've told my friends that I should be a spokesperson for the diet because I'm so friggin' excited about how it's worked for me. I swear, I think this could be the diet for everybody!! The only downside is that I'm once again a shopoholic. I'm thin and broke....LOL
