| | | candy, sweets, and sugar ban, anyone? So I am on my fourth day of not eating any desserts, candy, or refined sugars (though I am having a bit of honey in my tea, fruit, etc). I am doing this because I find that I get into these patterns of being totally addicted to sugar, where I basically can't go a day without having candy. I don't really think I'm unhealthy in the sense that I'm not overweight, I get a decent amount of exercise, and I eat a lot of veggies and fish, but I hate feeling addicted to something (I went cold turkey off of coffee 3 months ago and haven't had any since!). Also, my grandma died of diabetes, so I know it runs in my family. Anyway...just thought posting this would make me actually stick to it, and anyone else who wants to join is most welcome! |

| | | Yeah I try to keep my carb intake really low too. I used to be a major sugar addict too, because I sincerely thought "low fat" really meant that you wouldn't get fat eating it, boy was I wrong. After a while you don't miss it. I'm programmed to choose savoury over sweet now, and I haven't had sugar in my coffee for about 10 years. |

| | I've been 4 months off the sugary stuff. The only things I'll eat that contain sugar really are foods like pastas and these Products: Peanut Butter Banana - Trioplex High Protein Whole Grain Food Bars

| | | I have a terrible sugar addiction!!
I went off sugary stuff for about a year once (with the occasional dessert here and there) but once i started dating my SO who is also a sugar addict it went to S**t.
I have found though that if you are craving sugar, the best thing to do is go a pick up some fruit (berries are what does it for me), and gorge yourself on them. It will raise your blood sugar plus they are anti-oxidants so its okay. You will find that your sweet tooth goes away after!
I think i am going to join you on this one!!

Fruit seems like a pretty satisfying substitute. |

Drinking mainly water and limited amouts of milk (im vegetarian, so i need protein from dairy) or sometimes pure juice makes me feel so much healthier. I've been off soda for about 3 months and don't miss it anymore, but cutting out all sugar would be so hard for me. i just try to get a decent amount of exercise.
Sounds like you're doing well, alissa. keep it up! |

| | | I'm trying to cut down on the sugar, but I'm so addicted to candy/sweets. Now I drink Pepsi One and I try to sweeten with Splenda and get the sugar free option. |

| | You know what really sucks about trying to cut sugar out of your diet?
There is this great soft oce cream store that opened right by my house, and it is the best soft ice cream in the whole world...i am an ice cream freak and i have never had anything this amazingly good. To make matters worse, the guy that owns the place is so adorable that it adds to the sweetness when i go there.
But now i have to stay far far away!!!
Sorry i just had to vent that!

| | | now that I'm pregnant I've replaced my junk sugar foods with TONS of fruit. Strawberries are my big thing right now.
I do, however, still enjoy a chocolate Jello pudding cup a few times a week! |

| | | I'm on day 8, and I'm fiending like mad, but haven't given in yet! Someone even brought back cadbury's chocolate to my department and I didn't have any...I've been chewing a lot of sugarfree gum when I get serious cravings. I think that after the 2 week mark it should be easier (?). Anyhoo that's it for now. Hope everyone else on this is doing okay! |

| | I can ban fatty food but not sweets or carbs...
Thank goodness I do exercise enough to justify that, or I'd be in trouble...

That being said, I had like 8 oreo cookies last night at my Aunt's house.
