Regarding bed mattresses

I put this in this forum cause its under health =]

anyway, it's about time I got a new mattress. I don't know what I'm supposed to look for. I've slept on a tempurpedic before but it's only good for sleeping... nothing anything else.. you girls know what i'm talking about

what are brands that are known to last longer/better sleep technology and etc?

thanks everyone

I have a sleep number Select Comfort bed. It's a king so it has the 2 sides so you can have 2 separate numbers. I like it for that reason (hubby likes firm, I like soft) but it also keeps him on his side of the bed instead of ending up on my side and leaving me with like a foot of mattress! It really wasn't much different in price than a high quality mattress. I think we paid $1800 plus we got it for 12 months no interest no payments which was nice. I believe it has a 20 yr. warrenty. We've had it for about 5 years, no troubles. And I like that I can change the softness. When I'm big and pregnant I might want it firmer.

i sleep on a tempurpedic, and it's the best sleep i've ever gotten. i can also do other things perfectly fine on it. like... reading! you'll have to readjust to it at first, but after a while, you'll learn to read on it just fine.

We've got a Sealy Posturepedic and it's comfy. Tried a Sleep Number bed in a hotel in Philly recently and it wasn't for me, but that was because I didn't like climbing into it like a waterbed. It could have just been a weird bedframe though; perhaps Sleep Numbers don't usually come with the weird frame?

I bought a Sealy Paddington, its aka Teddy Bear Bed, its so soft and huge pillowtop made of feathers and silk and some of that memory foam, i try my best not to sit near my bed often because once i lie on it i'm gone.

We have a Sleep Number and I like it a lot - I tried out all of the Tempurpedic beds, but they were all too hard for me (except for the $7,000 one LOL)

i'm looking at my options first. since it has to do w/ my health, i really don't want to limit myself. if anything, i'll cut down on buying jeans.

Well, if you see one in a mattress store definitely lay down on it. It is soo soft. For the first time in my life I can no sleep on my back! (I think it was around $3000 for the complete set, but it is also a California King and they had to make it special for us because they don't normally stock that size).

The air chambers are made of canvas. The cover is a mattress like material and it's REPLACABLE! So, if it gets icky you can just buy a new one for a few hundred I think..... I keep mine covered with a waterproof pad (dogs). Plus you can get the feather down pads that go on top etc. Lots of options. Check out their website.
