| | | Tips to loose fat in tummy??? Ok, so I have been trying to loose weight since the birth of my 4th and LAST child but I seem to be loosing it every where but the belly. I have lost tons in the rear and legs and really don't want to loose any more there. BUT, I can't seem to firm up or loose fat in my tummy area. Now I have extra skin that just hangs and around my belly button a little pooch sticks out. Anyone have any tips on how to target the baby belly area?
I was a size 12 after she was born and just got down to a size 8, but now my belly seems to just hang over my pants. If I go up to a size 10 then my pants fall off. Someone help me please!

| | Stomach and Love Handle Weight Loss and Toning Tips?
it's tough!! i'm working on the same thing. i've lost about 10 lbs in the past six weeks but still have a little bit of love handles. can't really target an area for fat loss. it's going to be an all over thing.

| | there are a few things that you can do, first make sure that you eat healthy and drink water. try to skip sodas and energy drinks cause that's all sugar.
but heres my short list of exercises that benefit your whole body
running
swimming
tennis
yoga/pilates that targets the abdominal area.
and my fav!: Abdominals - Oblique Crunch

your muscles underneath your 'top layer' of fat may be hard, but you need to burn that off by doing cardio. start a daily cardio routine of running, jogging, using the eliptical machine, etc. after a while, you should see results. |

I have to walk most of it due to a bad knee injury from high school, but I have already upped that to 1.5 miles today and try to jog more. I have also started turning on the radio when I cook and I dance the whole time. It takes me forever to cook for my 4 kids, so I usually get at least an hour of full dancing every day.
Can anyone recommend a pilates or yoga workout video that works best? I can't get into a gym because I live an hour from town and have 4 kids to take care of, but I have a treadmill, Health rider, Total Gym and free weights at home. Any more tips would be great!
Also, is there a certain type of food that will help burn fat...like Cranberry juice is a natural diuretic (sp)

An example is celery... just make sure you don't coat it with peanut butter |

| | | I have bad knees as well (i used to dance and since i have stopped i noticed that my knees started to have some problems) and i have found that rollerblading is a great form of cardio for me. I've recommended it a lot on here, but one of the reasons i do is because it is not only a great form of cardio, but it is a great total body workout.
When you rollerblade you have to maintain some sort of balance in your core area. This will strengthen your core muscles while doing cardiovascular exercizes. If you haven't done it before it may take a little while before you get used to it, but once you do you can just go for hours. It is also a good thing to learn to do since you can get your kids involved (when they are old enough of course) and make it a total family outing.
As for fat burning foods, i don't know if there are foods that are clinically proven to burn fat while resting, but i do know that grapefruits and green tea are known for boosting your metabolism.

| | | Stretched out skin will not go away no matter how many ab exercises you do. Only a tummy tuck will get rid of it.

| | | I am in the same situation as you, except I don't have kids. I am so sick of the belly roll, but its always been there b/c of genetics even when I was otherwise skinny. I'm always telling my bf I want lipo, but he just tells me I need to exercise more. Its hard for me to get the time to exercise with work/school, so I'm sure its even harder w/ 4 kids. |

| | 4 Kids here...............alot 99% is Genetics
eating healthy and being active is HUGE for anyone who wants to lose weight.
Be careful with those crunches, after four kids my assumption is the your abdominal muscles have seperated, which makes it harde to get that lower tummy area.....squates with dead weight( like 10 pound barbells , and Pliayes( i never spell that right at all) its a ballerina exercise ....lawgal should know and explain it better.....that to me is the best for woman with that extra pooch, hands down |

To do a Plie you will want to put your feet into first position (toes pointed outwards, with the back of youear heels touching). Then what you want to do is bend at the knee until your knees are just over your toes. You want to remember to tuck your butt in and keep your back straight when you do this. Hold the plie for a couple second and then slowly come up. This can also be done is second position (feet shoulder width apart with the toes turned out). You can put your hands on your waist when you do this.
If you are finding that you are having a hard time keeping your balance when doing this at first, try holding onto something like a raining or a dresser that is about waist hight. This should help you keep your balance until you get used to it.
As for finding time to excersize, it may be cool to get a couple of yoga videos that are for both moms and kids! I know that there are a lot of them out there and it would be great to spend some time with the kids while getting them physically active at an early age. My little cousin who is in karate also love to do yoga. He found that he can be quite flexible and is amazed at the positions he can contrort himself into!

| | | I just bought the Yoga Booty Ballet system, so I will let you know how that works for me. I have also upped my jogging to 2 miles a day 4 days a week (bought a new jogging stroller) and I have been doing Tae Bo.

| | | I feel your pain... have two kids and a lot of extra belly fat.
Ditto on the idea for an exercise video that kids can do with you. I recently bought this one called Masala Bhangracize for Kids. It has Bollywood style dance and doesn't feel like exercise, just dancing. It's doesn't have any ab specific exercises, but good to get the cardio going.
I recommend Pilates also. After my second son turned 6 months, I started going to class. At the beginning, I couldn't get my shoulders more than a few inches off the floor, but I kept trying. After a six months (I only went 1x week, max) I could do a full curl up. I'm still struggling to lose the last ten pounds (all in the tummy) and my youngest is now two. So, you're not alone... just keep at it!

| | Have you tried swimming? I know it is intimidating for adults to get back into a swim class but many YMCA's or gyms with pools offer adult lap times so you can swim with other people your age. When I was in school I was a lifeguard and swim instructor and because I worked at night I taught a lot of private lessons to adults. Nothing is better for making you lean all over than swimming. Also you mentioned you have knee problems- obviously swimming is zero impact. A lot of the people I "instructed" only wanted to take a few lessons and bulk up their knowledge on the strokes so they would feel comfortable going to lap swim on their own. A swimming workout isn't just swimming fast and doing flip turns at the ends of the pool- its using a kick board and isolating your legs and butt, imobilizing your lowerbody so your upper body does all the work of pulling you through the water. Dolphin kicking so you engage your legs and abs- there are so many options. I love swimming, its the most relaxing thing ever to me and my body always looks its best when I am "working out" in the pool

| | | I have read in several places that eating low fat yogurt helps you target belly fat when on a diet and exercise program. I eat yogurt all the time because I love it. I have always had a flat toned tummy. Not sure if it's related, but worth mentioning. |

| | | Well, I have been doing the yoga booty ballet and trying to eat right and I have lost another 5 lbs in the last 2.5 weeks, so I guess it is working. I really only want to loose about 15 more lbs, but I need to firm up the belly. I just went out and got tons of yogurt, so we will see if that helps too! Thanks for all the advise ladies. I will let you know if it works. At least I am starting to look decent in some of my R&R's.
