Look at your ticker and see how far along you've come - you're almost there! and at the end, you can reward yourself w/more jeans!

this is kinda OT, but you inspired me to get the diva cup (and i'm adjusting, but liking it so far), so keep up with the exercise! you'll inspire some more people, that way

Do you listen to music? If you put your favourite music on your music player, and don't let yourself listen to it anywhere else, that is inspiring.

You could also buy a fun magazine and read that at the gym doing cardio.

You don't have to do intense exercise if it's a choice between low intensity and nothing at all. The key is to do something.

If the problem is getting out of the house, go up your stairs 5 times in the morning and 5 times in the evening.

I love the idea of the stairs. I might just try that!

Maybe try something different, that is not technically exercise. Along the same lines as the stairs idea... like taking a 30 min. walk instead of hitting a machine. I love walking. If only I had time to to do it, and my kids didn't complain I would be in great shape.

Everyone has their lazy moments...
Do something fun...eg. skate, toboggan, ski, bike, swim...
It's better to exercise with a friend (time goes by so much faster)...
Go hit up a mall...Go to a club, dance for a bit...anything that keeps you moving...exercising doesn't necessarily have to involve getting in your sweats...
When I'm lazy to go to the gym, I do chores at home...going up and down the stairs carrying laundry...cleaning my room...mopping...shoveling...mowing the lawn...
The hardest part is to get started...once I get my lazy ass on the treadmill/go outside for a run, I can go onnnnnn forever ...so just get moving, it's not that bad afterwards and ten minutes will feel like a breeze...YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Rach.

I am in the same boat right now too. Instead of going on my tredmill i am sitting on my bum on the computer! :P

I know you said that you workout at home and one tging i have found that gets me motivated is watching a manvie while i do cardio. It really helps the time pass and before i know it i have been working out for an hour. I am also getting some free weights in various weights so while i am sitting watching TV or even reading for school i can be lifting at the same time.

maybe if you have time, later today you can take your kids to the park and play with them. Or you could just run around the yard with them. Tell them you want to play tag. I work at an afterschool care program and when Im feeling sluggish, i get the kids outside and run around with them. Even throwing a ball or frisbee will get you moving and it is FUN!

I just looked at your profile pic and i guess your kids are too old now but do you have a dog?

I guess my point is, it is always more motivating to get active with another person or dog

Good luck!

HAHA! Yes I have a dog, she's just as lazy as me actually.
If Josh was my kid I would have had to have had him when I was 5 and that's just scary!!! Don't apologize tho, no harm done!!

OOOH, I hope you aren't serious!!! That would be the worst thing for me to do, ever! I'd wind up crawling under my covers and not coming out for a week!

Same with me!! Right now i am house sitting for my mum and dad and they have a huge closet in their room with mirrored doors...so everytime i undress i get to see a wonderful panoramic view of myself...not too fun. To make matters worse...because of the size of the mirrors they tend to warp what you actually look like. It is like being in a mirror not-so-fun house

I am dead serious. I spend most of my time sitting around in my underwear when I'm at home. I guess it's because I live with my SO, so we both feel comfortable walking around in our undies. SO is an eating machine and he stocks the pantry with packets of potato chips, tons of soda and chocolates etc.

When I'm down to my underwear I'm much more conscious of what I eat. Similarly when I go out to somewhere that's a buffet or all you can eat or a really yum restaurant where I know I might not be able to resist getting appetizers, entres, mains & dessert, I'll wear a tight top to stop myself from pigging out! Trust me, I used to wear not-so-fitting tops but then I found that I eat more in loose clothing because you can't see any bulges... but when you're conscious, you eat less.

Plus everytime I look at my wobbly bits it suddenly puts me in a "healthy" mood

I think you should learn to come to terms with your body, at the end of the day, it's yours, and you gotta love it and pamper it a little. By pamper, I mean moisturizing yourself after every shower or giving yourself a massage once in a while - not cramming a whole bag of Lay's in one sitting!

I have found that being a member of sparkpeople is quite motivational. you get points for different things you do, like exercising. It has helped me...not to mention there is a group of AF members (well, the group is called Honest Forums biggest losers, but most of them are on here too)

If you want to check it out, go to: Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople

they also have a ton of resources regarding motivation, health and wellness, fitness, and nutrition. I like it a lot.

I know how you feel. I just started working again and I leave the house at 6:40am and don't get home until 6:40pm. I have no energy to then get up and go workout. But I have been adding inches little by little to my lower body and it's pissing me off. I also feel like in the winter it's harder for me to get motivated to go out to the gym. So I can't wait for the warmer weather to get here so I can finally be my old self again. And what sucks as soon as I set my mind to go to the gym something comes up. This week I was determined to go after work no matter what and I got sick, like really sick. And I know I have to put exercise off again. Sorry I vented on your thread I just feel hopeless

i feel the exact same as you. If it's not one thing then it is another. . .
For me, it has been studying. I am taking the GRE in a day and I have been taking 23 hours of school. For the past 3-4 weeks, i feel very guilty if I go workout because I feel like i could be resting or studying
it is just soooo frustrating!

That was me falling off as well!

I just got over a bout with the crud that is going around and I can't motivate myself to get back on the elliptical. I was doing so well before I got sick, it is really frustrating.
