| | | Have you ever lost a contact lens IN YOUR EYE? It's really irritating. I put in my contacts two days ago, and a few minutes later it slipped out of place, probably up and under my eyelid. This happened before, and it reappeared after a few hours.
Now it's been two days, and I can't get it out. I almost think I'm going crazy, b/c sometimes I can't even feel anything there. Other times, if I'm trying to work it out, by massaging the outside of my eye, I can feel it under my lid... but it moves away once I open my eye. I've tried eyedrops, rinsing my eyes with water, and pouring saline solution in there... but cannot manage to get it.
And, I've paged my eye doctor, but (seeing as how it's a holiday weekend) she hasn't gotten back to me. What should I do?

| | hmm..I've been wearing contacts for over 12 years and this has never happened to me before. this might sound really nasty, but can you ask someone to help you? You can lift your upper eyelid, look all the way down, and see if they can move it down onto the proper place and/or take it off for you? both of you need to be not-squeamish about it though and of course make sure both sets of hands are clean. good luck..i really hope it works its way out or that you can get it out

| | | This happens to me all the time and it's always in the middle of class. It's so embarassing to have to ask to go to the bathroom because you lost your contact in your eye. |

| | I had it happen for a day once. I just kept rubbing it, but not too hard so that way it won't rip in there. Have you had someone look in there for you

| | | This has happened to me many times. I'm an eye rubber. I usually sit down at my makeup table and look in the magnifying mirror. It's lighted, so that helps. I just roll my eye around, rub my lid and eventually I find it. You might have to get help though. Good luck. It's an awful feeling

| | | I had it happen once and I could not get it out at all for a whole day. It ended up falling out when I put another one in. Actually it was those Acuvue 2 ones as well. I would always have them roll up and get stuck and I would rub and rub and finally they would fall out. Ugh hated those. I found using eye drops helped them roll up a little less. |

| | | Ew, remind me not to get those kind. I don't think I could stand it knowing a contact was stuck in my eye. I would go to Lens Crafters b/c I don't think its good having it stuck there for so long. |

| | | That happened to me once before. The contact lens actually ripped apart in my eye and half of it floated under my eyelid. After about an hour or so it floated back out though. I was kind of freaked out about it. |

| | | that happened to me once, and all I could do was to keep pressing down on the top of my eyelid, and it came out. I had those same contacts too. I wear the acuvue advance hydraclear now, and I've had no issues w/it. |

| | | This happened to me once when I was removing lenses, and I thought it had come out...so I put a new pair in...to my surprise I ended up wearing two lenses in one eye. It hurt so much and I couldn't see a damn thing.
Oh, the stupidity.

| | | This has happened to my several times. My doctor has dubbed my a contact lens failure, as I am not allowed to wear my lens for more than 8 hours at a time, and two days in a row at most. When I do wear lens' I wear Acuvue Oasis and those seem to be a lot better for me now.
As far as your issue. If you can find a Lens Crafters or Pearle or any other eye place that's open I would go there, the sooner the better. They can shine the light in your eye and get the lens out at the same time.
If you can't find an open place I'd suggest putting a good amount of drops in your eye, holding both the bottom and top lids open, blinking a few times, and try to slide it off your eye and keep sliding it down on to your cheek. That's what I usually do. Hopefully that will help!

| | So, I went to see my optometrist... and it turns out the contact was already gone from my eye. But I could swear last night, I could feel the edge of something in my eye. (the next part is kind of gross )
It turns out that I had aggravated the membranes of my eye from all the rubbing, and caused a sort of blister, and that's what I was feeling. Eeww. Thankfully, it didn't actually cause a rip! Now, I am on antibiotics and some other medicated eyedrops to heal it, and I can't wear contacts for the next five days. The optometrist said if it ever takes more than 12 hours to find a lost contact to call right away. Lesson learned!

| | This is why I hate wearing my contacts. It happened to me before when I fell asleep with my contacts in...what a pain that was trying to get it out!

| | I just remembered what you are supposed to do when they get stuck. Take two wet washcloths and make one as hot as you can tolerate and one cold. Place the hot one on for a few minutes then alternate with the cold one. The contact should slip out after a few times.
This was advice given to me by an optometrist when I was freaking out about a stuck contact |

| | | It's happened to me before twice! One was in the middle of class and I went to the bathroom and it popped out. The other time I was trying to take it out. I spent 15 minutes rubbing, rinsing, everything and it finally came out!
The worst thing that ever happened was that I had just gotten Focus Dailies and they ripped in my eyes! They ripped into shreads and I got some out. I still felt something but I thought it was irritation. I went to my eye doctor but he wasn't there so the lady told me to go to the mirror with solution and try and get it out myself!!!! Then my stupid self decided to put another set which ripped again! Bad idea. I went to Lenscrafters right away and the lady saw me and took all the pieces out! Thank gosh nothing was scratched or anything. I returned those contacts QUICK! |

| | | I once had a contact teared up into three pieces while it was still in my eye. I was rubbing my eyes after swimming (I was wearing googles!) and suddenly my eye was very irrate... I looked in the mirror and saw three separate pieces but luckily I got them all out. That was scary.

| | | I HATE THIS!! It happened to me while driving! Please do whatever you can to get out, and don't ever do anything else until it is out of your eye. It can scratch! Don;t rub in any way that'll hurt your eye, just concentrate and get a friend to help you not freak out.

| | | that has happened to me before too. It's been a really long time since the last time it happened. but i was able to pull up my eyelid (or down depending on which direction it went) and work it out. i've never dealt with it for more than an hour.
I definately wouldn't just leave it like that.

| | | I finally started wearing contacts again a few days ago, after my eye healed from all the irritation. My optometrist did suggest letting the contact dry out on your fingertip for a few seconds before putting it on... so it won't be so floppy. He doesn't think Acuvue 2 are more likely to do this... but again, I've had it happen twice with those... and I wore the old Acuvue for 10 years w/o any problems!

| | | ahahaha! i have lost a contact in my eye...it was the most hilarious thing EVER. i thought it had fallen out so i went to open a new package and i put another in, but my vision was still blurry, so i blinked a few time and it fell out and all of a sudden i could see PERFECTLY. i went around the house screaming I CAN SEEEEEEE (i thought my vision suddenly went to 20/20) and after like a minute i realized there was another contact in my eye (the other was under my eyelid), i was soo confused LOL! im such a dumbass
