| | | Simple Leg Muscle Exercises? Apologies for the oversimplified topic title...hehe
I'm having surgery next week on my foot and will be off my left leg for about eight weeks. I'm a lazy piece of crap most of the time anyway but I still treasure the ability to walk.
Any of you fitness gurus...any simple exercises I can do to keep my leg muscles at least healthy enough to not make walking a huge problem after two months? The surgery will be on my foot, not my leg, so the cast will only come up half the leg and not all the way to the knee. After a week or so I should be able to lift it and such but the doctor's strict orders are to keep weight off the foot so nothing shifts or breaks.
Thanks :-)

| | | hmmm....depending on your mobility, I would say seated leg extension and leg curl machines would help work your quads and hams. |

| | there's not a lot you can do as far as the weight machines go. the location of the pads for both the seated leg extension and leg curl machine will interfere with your cast since the cast comes halfway up your shin.
try doing leg extensions in a chair, or leg curls while lying in bed, both without any weights. believe me, after about 30-40 repititions, you'll be feeling it . however, this will only exercise the muscles above the knee (quads, hams)... exercising your calf muscles (gastroc, soleus) with an immobilized foot is, im pretty sure, unfortunately impossible. |

how happy am i now that my brother has that goofy weight bench in his room! will come in handy!
