I know healthy eating and exercise is the best way to lose weight, but have any of you ever tried or heard anything about hoodia or apple cider vinegar? my friend's been taking a couple teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before lunch and dinner and thinks it's helped her lose weight. i've also heard a lot about hoodia on the internet, oprah, etc. any thoughts???

I've heard about celebs using Hoodia too but I have no idea what it is.

My impression is that even if something helps you lose weight, it can't be permanent --- nor can it really be too healthy to keep taking any kind of supplement (herbal or not) regulary to keep that weight off. Your body won't care if it's skinny, it really only cares if it's healthy and working properly.

Yeah I'm not much of a believe in "weight loss supplements" in general, I do have apple cider vinegar on my salads as a dressing on occasion thouhg, in any case I doubt it'll hurt you . . .

i've read that hoodia does work b/c its what the tribesmen in south america use. BUT most hoodia on the market is either diluted or comes from the wrong area of the plant and its basically just a scam. you have to buy the right stuff, cant just get the $20 bottle at the drug store. i have considered trying it based on all of the good stuff i've heard, but i dont know what brand to get & dont want to spend $50 on something that doesnt work.

Yeah, what she said (except it is African tribesmen if I am not mistaken). I read that the company that got the patent is researching how to grow the hoodia cactus outside of the African desert where it grows. They are saying it will not be available for quite a few more years.

I use apple cider vinegar to cook. I love it in my chicken. I don't believe I have lost any weight from it but I don't cook with it everyday either.

Hoodia is a plant that supresses hunger. I've researched on hoodia when I was considering to go on a diet and it does work. But like jetta said most of the supposed hoodia products in the market are diluted!

I've tried Hoodia & still use it...I had no adverse reactions to it (like the Trim Spa & others)...those made my heart RACE...I think you can get it at Vitamin Shoppe...it's pretty much everywhere...
Just keeps you from being hungry...I found it cut my "sweet & carb" cravings...& from those random SNACK occurances.

I don't stay on it for long periods of time though...I take it for a couple of weeks (see how I'm doing on it). One suggestion...drink TEA...Green, white, whatever...(no sugar or milk,etc.) When I do this...it helps to keep me feeling full & suppresses my appetite a bit...

i have been using dex-L10 and i have definately felt a noticeable difference. i still feel hungry, but i dont have to eat as much to get full and i am not craving the junk food. usually when i come home from work i am starving and i have to eat a lot to feel satisfied, but now i just have a small snack and i feel satisfied. other than that i dont feel any different - not jittery at all.

Apple Cider vinegar, unpasteurized, unfiltered and unprocessed actaully does help you lose weight, long term though, gradually and naturally. Bragg's ACV is an excellent brand and the one I personally use. 2 tbsp in warm water with a little honey as a tea like drink before you eat or shortly after, it's actually quite good, like hot cider. The acid in the vinegar helps digest your food better which leads to better food absorbtion and better elimination, hence the weight loss. It will also almost immediately ease an upset stomach due to bad food, too much sweets or just upset stomach for no reason. Same thing, it digests the left over food in your stomach and moves it along quickly. Fresh pineapple is also EXCELLENT for an upset stomach, same acid principle.

The best thing really is a good colon cleanse and plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit. Then add the vinegar drink. The average person will lose about 10 pounds during the colon cleanse and then average about a pound every week or two of weight loss. It's a healthy weight loss and actually very good for your body.

The brand Desert Burn is said to be 100% hoodia, and effective. I haven't used it; like a lot of people, I'm too cheap. Willpower is free, I wish it worked better!

I wanted to add that I didn't lose any weight as a result of taking the Hoodia. Maybe it was psychological...who knows. In the end I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money.

I got a sample of the Bragg's "soy sauce" in the mail. I will have to try their apple cider vinegar sometime.

Lots of running and a good diet will certainly help you lose weight.

I don't know anything about Hoodia, but i have tried ACV. If your going to do that,start it slowly ( smaller amounts at first) because when i did it i got really sick for a little over a week.

I'm bumping this because i have found a wonderful use for ACV. My dog has serious skin problems and she itches constantly. Nothing works for her so i did some research on the internet and found ACV for dogs. I diluted some in water and put it in a spray bottle and sprayed her. She hasnt itched in 3 days now and she feels so much better. They also said i can put it in her water and this will help with the PH level of her skin. It also has a lot of other healing properties for dogs and cats.
