| | | Man, getting older SUCKS... I am 24 (almost 25) and here is what I've noticed about my body:
- In high school, I had no conception of "pores" or "acne". Those 2 gems were for later on in life.
- In high school and for most of college, I was pretty much the same size +/- 5 pounds. I rarely exercised and if I gained a little weight, I could just do some extra cardio and tada - gone. Now it's easier to gain 10 pounds and much harder to work off.
- In high school and for most of college, I had a gorgeous, tiny mid-section (it was smushy, but flat). I was a true hourglass. Now, all the weight seems to gather in my mid-section. (On the other hand, however, I do seem to more quickly tone my legs now than before).
- In high school, I had more energy. Could party all night and still make it to 7 am class. Now, I am still a night owl, but I'm in bed...watching downloaded episodes of 24 and barely making my 10-10:30 work time.
- And lastly, what the hell is up with all these aches? I was in a bad car accident when I was 16, so it explains the back issues...but geez.
So in other words: If I could go back and talk to my high school self, I would say - YOU ARE ONE HOT BABE, GO OUT AND GET SOME ACTION.
But, on the upside, I am a wee bit "wiser" and more "mature". |

| | | I know what you mean. I can't believe I actually thought I was fat 20 pounds and 5 years ago. And I can't drink like I used to either. I used to never get hangovers and I could always remember everything that happened the night before. Now I have three beers and I am dead on my feet the next day and can barely remember what happened! |

| | I totally am experiencing all the things that you listed!!!
but on the upside, now i am more health consciencous and wise about my decisions. I wouldnt go back to being a teen for anything! Oh what confusing years! I love being mid 20s but DREAD the day that I start seeing wrinkles but aging is a beautiful thing regardless of all those pesky things that come with it |

| | dana - yes, i forgot to mention the drinking too...i'm a total weaking now. throw back a few shots and whoaaa i feel like crap the next day. i do, however, have friends who still get "black out drunk" and is it overly "old" of me to frown upon that.
millypoo & nnola - overall, i do think that aging is a beautiful thing BIG PICTURE. just sometimes, when you're examining your newly found pores and notice the forehead wrinkles...it's a bit disarming. i already stay out of the sun, but will start investing in some cute hats |

| | | Haha omg you guys i so know what u mean. I am 23 and for some reason i feel so OLD!! I do tire a lot mroe then i used to although i am hoping it is due to lack of activity. I started to worry about qwrinkles and i am considering a little botox for my face just to make sure (you can never start too early)
When i was a kid i would eat and eat and eat and i would stay really really skinny and now i actually have to work at keeping my body trim and fit. I have a flat tummy with the appearance of abs apparently but my butt and thighs never seem to get any more firm no matter how much i work them out. I wish i could afford lipo.
I was never much of a drinker so give me one drink and i am probably as tipsy as can be...so bad!!
I suddenly need 8 hours of sleep a night when i used to be able to get only 4 or 5 and be fine though the whole day.
On a girly note i have noticed that my PMS and cramping has gotten a bit worse. I never used to get cramps and now i get them (they aren't bad but they are uncomfortable). |

When I was in high school I would go to sleep at 11 or 12 and get up at like 530 or 6 and never once did I fall asleep in class. Now it seems like I just can't get enough sleep no matter what. Last night I went to bed at 1030 and I could barely drag myself out of bed at 930. Also I fall asleep in class all the time. It's so embarassing because I'm a grad student! |

| | | I wonder if for our generation, our 20s are really are 30s? Like....we experience aging faster (even if just mentally). We're in this environment where we have to grow up so fast or see others do so (example: JoJo at 13?! The Lindsay Lohans at 17/18 or even people we know who start their own businesses, etc. so young). There's so much pressure, maybe we get physically and mentally worked out by our 20's now? |

I have many friends in their 30's and I swear, they're all like me...except wiser & making more $$. |

| | Reading this thread makes me feel elderly.
Girls in your twenties, you are young still!! You look much better than you realize. Because when you are 35, you are going to look back at pictures of yourself at 25 and think "Holy Sh**, I looked really good!"
OT, but if you aren't yet married with kids, go out and have as much fun as you can NOW! |

| | I'm going to be hitting 30 in a few months and am seeing and worrying about things I never used to! When I see pictures of me, all I can see are little wrinkles when I smile that never used to be there! I used to have to deal with a ton of acne issues when I was younger. Now that the acne's gone, it's now wrinkles and milia I have to deal with! UGH. I have odd aches and pains and have gone for more diagnostic tests than I can ever remember. I never seem to be able to get enough sleep (at least at home, if I'm anywhere else, I'm out like a light). I'm also so much more careful about my diet - I used to chow down on anything. I always mention to my friends that I feel like I'm losing my youthful bloom.
The only positives are that I'm far more comfortable with my body now than I ever was when I was younger (and skinnier) and as Mizzboxy alluded to, I'm in my prime.

| | | When I first saw this title, I thought it was about the 30s! Trust me, mid-20s is still really young. In fact, if you are in your 30s and don't have kids, you are young. For me, it is mainly the sleep deprivation. I haven't had a full night's sleep on a regular basis in over 5 years... and I feel like I have aged about 10. Yeah, it kind of bothers me... that's why I drop $$$ on premium denim and Bobbi Brown makeup... but I also have a lot of other things going on, so I can't obsess about the physical changes all day.
What I notice when I read what younger people are posting is that there seems to be a lot more pressure to be physically perfect for people in their teens and 20s than there used to be. Heck, there is more pressure for moms in their 30s to be awesome looking. When my mom was 35, she was wearing very "middle aged" looking clothes. Now, I look around, and plenty of women in their mid-upper 30s are totally yoga-cized and wearing tight trendy clothes.
Just my .02
