LOL OMG

I don't even know why I picked this up. I HATED Eclipse. With a passion (I liked Twilight and New Moon was "eh"). It was SO hard for me to finish Eclipse.

(here be slight spoilers!)
Surprisingly, I didn't have much of a problem finishing Breaking Dawn. Probably because I LOL'd my merry way through it. In a bad way. IMO, the series has gone down the toilet. Honestly, I think Stephanie Meyer made millions just by novelizing her own childish fantasies. Who doesn't want two (supernatural/perfect) hunks fighting over you? And then having sex with one of them so intensely that the bed breaks and he leaves bruises all over your body?

Bah, at least it's over. I think?

P.S. Bella really needs a hobby. And a backbone. She really annoys me.

Anyway. I hope you guys enjoyed it more than I did, lol

There were MANY lol moments. I rolled my eyes at least 20 times. Meyer's writing is actually not that good. I think she used the word murmured and growl at least 100-200+ times.

The series is definitely a Mary Sue.

I think that she spent dragged on the first and second part too long. I wanted to read more about Bella and Edward's growth as parents and their relationship with Nessie (

)
I was also disappointed when they didn't have the war/fight/battle. She kept on building it up and WOOP, we all go home yay.

I really like the first few chapters, but hated the middle. The whole part from Jacob's POV was boring. I liked the other 3 books way better. But by the end I liked this book.

I didn't hate it, but it wasn't great. It certainly wasn't what I expected. The part I hated the most was the baby's name. Renesmee? I'm sure Meyer could've come up with something better than that. I CRINGED every time I read it.

I wasn't so impressed with the buildup to a big battle with the Volturi, then they just turned around and went home. It leaves the possibility for more sequels in the future though, so maybe that's what Meyer was going for.

I also feel like it ended up being too perfect when all was said and done. Bella became a vampire, had no problems as a newborn, and didn't have to give up her non-vampire family, which is what had been repeated again and again in the earlier books. Shouldn't there have been some sacrifice somewhere?

All that being said, it wasn't that bad. I'm glad I read it and got to find out what happened.

So I guess it sucks? I'm not surprised. The last book i read in a series, I was totally disappointed.

I'm still on freaking New Moon. I have read them before but wanted to again before Breaking Dawn.

3 kids not yet in school=no time to read!!!!

Sounds like I'm not missing much???????

^ I think she was setting up for future books from someone else's POV. She has said in the past that she might continue the story but not from Bella's perspective. My guess is in a few years she will pick up with Nessie's story w/ Jacob. But who knows!

Bella became so lame and boring. Totally disappointing. I think the Nessie story could possibly be good, but i cant stand the wolf parts.

Stephenie Meyer is rewriting Twilight in Edward's eyes. I think this will be her one-hit wonder!!!!

Either she's writing another book or there will be lots of sequel to the movie!!!!

I really don't know what kind of crack she was on when she wrote this one, but she needs a new dealer because she was on one bad trip.

I'm hoping that Midnight Sun (the Edward version of Twilight) will be good. I'll probably read it regardless of the reviews, like I did with Breaking Dawn.

I'm looking forward to Midnight Sun. The chapter on her website was really good. I did like all 4 of the books. (did hate the middle of Breaking Dawn though) but I think the story told thru Edward's eyes will be much more fascinating!

Midnight Sun was put on hold indefinitely.
The reason she has the chapters on there now is some one leaked them to the internet without her permission. Once they were all taken down on the unofficial sits she decided to put up her first 10 or so chapters for the fans to see with a note saying basically sorry guys, but because this asshole stole my work I feel that I can't write anymore because the unpolished, unfinished work has bee shown and embarrassed me. It's on her site if you want her exact words.

I'm bummed.

I my hell...I just barely started on Breaking Dawn. It took me forever to re-read the other 3. I agree that Eclipse was the worst out the 3 though.

I heard that it was here so called "friends" that stole her book & leaked it. Nice. It sucks if she just forgets it. I would be so mad if I were her.

There were very limited exclusive copies of the 11 (13? I know it stops before the meadow scene) chapters manuscript in print. Robert Pattinson forsure has a copy, to help him with his role as Edward.

I had a peek at them and it looks photocopied with the sprial binding visible

I don't know if I want to read breaking dawn and eclipse now. I thought twilight was good and new moon slightly worse. From you guys, it sounds like the series just goes down hill from there.

I find it amazing that these books are 500+ pages long. I could probably summarize them all in about a paragraph.

^That's probably the truest thing I've ever heard about these books. They just kept getting bigger and bigger, and coincidentally, they had less and less to say. You could definitely summarize them all less than a paragraph. Here, I'll try!

Boring and accident-prone Bella falls in love with a vampire. Gasp! Bad things happen. Bella's friend Jacob (who happens to be a werewolf) falls in love with her and ends up broken-hearted. More bad things are supposed to happen, but for some reason they don't really occur. Bella and Edward get married, have good sex, get pregnant, and have a baby that everyone loves. More stuff kind of but not really happens. Bella becomes a vampire, and yet, she does not have to let go of her family. Bella and Edward and Baby With The Horrible Name ride off into the perfect sunset on their perfect white horse (which might also be a vampire. Or unicorn. Who knows.) The end.

When I read them, I found myself skimming far too often, especially through Eclipse. Some things just didn't make sense, were too boring, etc. I think Meyer's "writing" is highly overrated. The vampire concept was interesting, but I totally agree with xchuchanx-- the series is a total and COMPLETE Mary-Sue.

I was in Costco and breaking dawn was staring at me. So I caved and got it. I read it all yesterday, yes all 750 pages of it. The Jacob chapters were hilarious to me. She tries so hard to make him sound like a teenager and it back fires IMO. Bella, the clueless, also saves the day with her 'shield'. The miracle human turned vampire with 2 super special powers not just one saves the vamps.

That book should have been trimmed by about 500 pages. I almost quit reading it. I don't even think I missed anything by skipping eclipse.

I loved the 12 midnight sun chapters!

and i do think she will eventually finish and publish it
I am at eclipse now and so far i like it better than new moon

Yeah Coral, I do. I wrote that before the 4th book ever came out.......it only came out a month ago.

I read the series over again before I read Breaking Dawn. I don't know what your post is about.

Anyhow, I ended up really liking Breaking Dawn although many said they hated it. I didn't mind the whole fountain of blood thing or the sap.

I enjoyed it to the fullest.

Oh, i see. I haven’t read Breaking dawn actually. I just thought that when you said that new moon was the worst of them you meant that the other ones were bad already, gotcha now

. I really didn't love new moon nor eclipse, but i did like eclipse more than new moon. I will start breaking dawn tomorrow; i sort of forgot this thread was about that book only

I finished the first two and bought the Eclipse a few weeks ago but haven't gotten to it yet because of school.
The books are a super easy read and quick to get through so I don't mind the length. I really liked New Moon, though there was a lot of fluff in some parts it definitely doesn't deter me from finishing the rest of the series.
