Yeah, it's my Aunt but I'm NOT biased, this is a great book for any animal lover and she's a great story teller!

...my heart just breaks when I hear about abused and neglected horses. I really admire your aunt for what she does for these beautiful animals. As a lifelong horse owner and more importantly, horse lover, my heart breaks when I hear of abuse and neglect, as seen in the before photos of the horses on the rescue pages. I can't imagine what kind of people would leave their horses to die of starvation. It was so touching to see the transformations in the after pictures, and knowing how much feed it takes just to maintain healthy horses, I know it was a huge accomplishment to get them back to their current lovely condition.

Sorry to ramble on, but horses are my passion, and I meant to compliment to you on your beautiful avatar a few days ago as well. I need to read this book, but I get so heartbroken about horse neglect that I don't know if I can.

Catherine, this book will undoubtedly make you cry but in that good way that also makes you happy that the horses found my Aunt. And she's just a good writer, you will enjoy it.

I'm the same way about animal abuse/neglect. I cannot watch that Animal Cop show on animal planet and I have a really hard time reading/hearing about stories on the news or other rescue websites about neglected animals. But this book I can do, even though it makes me cry EVERY time. Maybe it's because I know the horses personally so I know they are all OK and happy.

Little exerpt from the Introduction:

In many ways, these stories really come from the hearts and souls of the horses themselves. I am merely their voice. For if the truth be told, I have only walked along a chosen path-a path that has led me to provide some otherwise unwanted horses the peace and dignity they deserve. I did not go searching for the horses I have encountered along my journey and brought into our family (even though you might point out that I did indeed find most of them, and you would be right in saying so). Yet I truly believe that through some implicit power of the richness all around us, the reality is that they have all found me.

Your aunt is no doubt a wonderful writer. She is passionate about her horses and her mission to save them from the horrible people they were unfortunate enough to encounter in their previous lives. You must be very proud to be part of such a compassionate family of horse lovers.

Thank you for sharing her story, and the book. The website is a beautiful tribute to her special herd of horses.
