Anyone here read eBooks??

I just got myself this brand new toy:

Sonystyle.com |

and I am in desperate need of some eBooks!! I've already downloaded some free ones from the Sony site, but I was wondering what other sites people use to download eBooks? Thanks

I've only seen this one: Amazon.com: Kindle: Amazon's New Wireless Reading Device: Kindle Store

I would assume you'd be able to purchase from amazon.com just like the people who bought the above model.

My Hubs and FIL do. I'll ask my hubs when he calls today. He knows a good site for ebooks.

Thanks guys kt, my reader can accept almost any kind of format... jpg, bmp, pdf, txt, rtf, etc.

Unfortunately, I can't use Amazon b/c their ebooks are specific to the kindle (those ebook SNOBS! lol)

I have the app 'kobo' for my ebooks on my iphone. So i dont know if it works with your type of device. It has a great selection of free ebooks and super cheap best sellers too.

I did not see this thread before but I strongly dislike the sony ebook reader. Absolutely nothing can compare to having the book in front of you. I've found the same to be true with school text books also. The biggest let down on the sony reader was reading pdf files. The only reason I had wanted to use it was for research papers and it screwed up the format, graphs/tables didn't show up and navigation was awkward. A tablet pc could probably do what this thing or any of them do a lot better.

^ well that's where you went wrong. these ereaders are designed with the main purpose being to read books on them, not to read pdf files that are not in ebook format. Reading pdf files is just a side feature. If you bought them for the sole purpose of pdf file reading, you didn't put in enough research before purchasing one, just imo

I actually didn't buy it so I didn't lose anything. There was one laying around and I noticed it said it could read pdf files and thought that was spectacular because I wouldn't have to carry around so many papers. It is now happily collecting dust once again.

So I finally got the Kindle 2 since the price went down to $189. I really like it a lot. It took me a while to figure out which ereader I wanted, but chose this one because there is no issue with fingerprints all over the screen. I have been buying discounted books because some of them you can get for $1.99 to $3.99. They are not best sellers but I read so much that it doesn't really matter.
