| | I think that would have to be one of the books that has scared me the most...mostly b/c there's so little supernatural involved, it could happen! A rabid St. Bernard going apeshit would be a scary thing!

| | | it would be pretty scary! but i think that's why i didn't like this book, it felt too tame to me, if that makes sense.

and insomnia, did not like. it actually put me to sleep, ironically.

| | | I love Stephen Kings books. Cujo was pretty good. I actually hated Insomnia though, I thought it was really boring. I'm trying to read all of his books excluding the dark towers series. I really enjoyed Needful Things and It.

| | | But the good thing about the Dark Tower books is that you could just keep reading them over and over again LOL One book that I love(well, okay, two) is The Talisman, that he wrote w/Peter Straub, and the sequel The Black House. Not your typical SK fare, but still good!

| | Same here w/Tommyknockers, at least the first time I tried to read it. Then I waited a few years and tried again, and found it easier to read Don't know why, but it worked. Actually, I was the same way with the Dark Tower books initially!

| | I remember watching Cujo with my brothers when I was in grade 3, it was the first horror movie I saw. Then I read the book in grade 8 or something. I liked the book a lot better. Poor doggy |

i read the regulators not long ago....quick read and pretty good. | I'm with you Jesse, that was the one book of his I couldn't (and still can't) get into much.
I have every one of his books, even his first one, which was only in print a very short time.
Nearly all his books are favourites of mine, and all for different reasons. I like how he melds in characters and places from other novels and short stories into his more recent books.
I think my standouts are IT and The Stand (and not forgetting the Dark Tower series )
And of course the compilations of his very many and varied short stories.
whoo don't get me started on Stephen King. He Rocks

| | | Cujo the book is soo much better than the movie IMO. The movie ending cops out (don't want to ruin it for Jesse.) The beginning starts out kind of slow, but the way he blends the turmoil of their relationship to the dog is brilliant. One of my favorite SK books.
Thinner was the first SK book I read and I didn't like it at the time...that was a long time ago so I may like it better now.
I don't care for most of the movie adaptations - most seem boring and don't give the books justice. 'Stand By Me' and 'The Green Mile' are my favorite movie adaptations.
I would highly recommend 'Everything's Eventual'- its a collection of short stories. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
