the curious incident of the dog in the night-time

by mark haddon

A very readable book about a troubled boy determined to discover who killed his neighbor's dog. I really enjoyed it and managed to finish it in about 2 days. The first part was a quick read, but it got a little bit draggy half way through the book.

I agree...but I think she does a great job sustaining interest when her narrator is autistic, and therefore not great at social interaction. At the school where I used to teach there was a autistic student and the narrator reminded me a lot of him.

^ Definitely agree. I liked the train station part when he is waiting and trying to figure out what train to get on. The author was really good at getting inside the narrator's mind. I didn't like that the dad was made out to be such a bad guy at the end of the book. The first half of the book he was very understanding and patient and then you find out. Seemed out of character to me.

It is an intriguing reversal of character...maybe a little too much. I had to tell you that I love the video in your sig. I have days where I feel like BOTH of those penguins!
