| Kabul Beauty School My Grandma had read the book with her book club, then gave the book to me to read while I was in Southern California. I am not done with it yet, but I love the story. Deborah Rodriguez is an American hairdresser who was born in Michigan. She went to Kabul, Aphganistan in 2002 to help with the war. She realized that their were no Beauty Salons left as the Taliban shut them down. The women who did cut hair their, were not trained. So that is when she decides to open a Beauty School and teach these women how to color, cut, wax, etc the proper way, so they can open up beauty salons again. She also marries a Aphgan man and is his "second" wife. Her friends did a "mock" of arrainged marriage. She did not pick him....but her friends did (It started off as a joke, then became reality). I was reading the news today, and I see that she had to flee her husband after the book was released as he was gonna take her money from her and possibly kidnap her son for randsom.
Anyway, good book!
