Beloved by Toni Morrison

We're reading this in class. It's about a former slave whose house is haunted by the ghost of her baby, named Beloved. I won't give away how she died. ;) Very poetic and lyrical; the language is sometimes so flowery I have no idea what the hell she's talking about. At the same time it's powerful and sad. And most of all ,weird. You just go WHAAAAA?? EWW and then read it again, haha.

Anyone else read this book? Any opinions? It's a Pulitzer winner.

Yes, Beloved is great! I love Toni Morrison. I am reading Song of Solomon right now and can't put it down. I also read Love...good and The Bluest Eye...good. She is a fabulous writer.

I read this in high school and although it was very engaging, I remember being pissed off at the end. I'm not sure how I'd feel now since I'm supposedly "older and wiser" (ha!). I remember I didn't much like it.
