Amazon library for Kindle Fire

I bought both my kids Kindle Fires for Christmas but I can't figure out their free library. Do I have to have an Amazon Prime account to have full access?

All I see are the books available for purchase.

Erica -- are you talking about the Owner's Lending Library? You do need to be a Prime member to have access to the lending library. The Fire should have come with one free month of Prime. How are you accessing the library? Are you going to the Books tab on the fire, and then clicking on "Store"? Do you see the navigation menu on the right-hand side after the store pops up on the screen?

Oh, so their library has selected titles for free. I guess major publishers are not allowing Amazon to have their titles on there for free.

you can always borrow kindle books online from your library too.. if your library has that. My library has kindle books that I can rent, but the ones I want to read always have a queue also, Amazon is losing money with every Kindle Fire they sell (since it costs more to make one kindle than the price they're selling it for). They are making their money off Prime and content like books/movies/music, etc. So they're definitely not going to have free books available for every book They do have some books that are pretty popular to lend for a month for free (if you have Prime). Otherwise, you do have the random selected titles that are free to download even if you're not a Prime member. Check out this site, it updates everyday with books that have been made free
