Your FAVORITE Romance books! No need to be shy ladies (and men)!

I love curling up with a well-written book, and if it has romance in it, then even better What are some of your favorite romance books, or books with romance in it?

Most of these books belong to a genre other than Romance but without the romance in them, the overall quality of the book would have fallen short.

-LotR
-author Gaelen Foley's Knight series (straight-up Romance genre writer)
-Lisa Kleypas's Wallflower series (straight-up Romance genre writer)
-Sookie Stackhouse series
-Black Jewels Trilogy (dark fantasy)
-Anita Blake series (dark paranormal)
-Hero and the Crown (first read this in middle school, and it remains as one of my favorites)
-Gone with the Wind (the cover looked risque when I was in 7th grade so I avoided it but my mom was the one who recommended me to try it)
-Jane Eyre (I prefer this book over Pride and Prejudice . I also read this in 7th grade at my friend's recommendation. Turns out even my Dad read it xD)
-author Robin Hobb (specifically the linked Farseer and Tawny Man Trilogy)
-Megan Mccafferty's Jessica Darling series
-Meg Cabot's Mediator series
-Miles Vorkosigan series (can't say enough good things about this series. fan base is smaller than it deserves xD)
-Judith Tarr
-Isabel Allende (gorgeous writing that sounds so beautiful and lyrical while reading mentally)
-Melanie Rawn's Exiles and Dragon Prince series (I think fantasy fans would be able to stick through the chunky books)

Okay I can't think of any more, and my stomach is growling. I'm sure there's a lot more and I'll update the list later when the titles come up

I have to say, my all-time favorite as of now, is J.R. Ward, The Dark Series. I love her creativity on vampires...

I have "Lover Mine" as we speak...but I am taking it with me on my cruise next week!! I can't wait to start it!!

Right now, I am reading Christine Feehan "Dark Slayer"... it is great so far!

I have most of all books in both of these series!

^ I'll have to try these out. Except my problem with a lot of these vampire books are that they have pretty incompetent authors. They have good ideas but they suck at writing.

there was this one book dammit.. what was it.. it had werewolves in it (a normal girl gets bitten by a werewolf and she becomes one too) and it had the steamiest love scene ever I was so engrossed

oh and I also love Jane Eyre

I don't normally read romance novels, but I absolutely fell in LOVE with Lisa Kleypas' Travis series! Sugar Daddy got me hooked. Blue Eyed Devil and Smooth Talking Stranger came shortly after

Another vote for J.R. Ward & The Black Dagger Brotherhood. I'm just loving this series.

I also really like Karen Marie Moning, both her Fever series and the Highlander series. I'm really into the paranormal/fantasy romance lately.

okay due to all the love for the J.R. Ward books, I just started Dark Lover. I'm reading through the glossary of the terms used in the book right now

I've read Christine Feehan books but I haven't heard of Ward and Moning yet The first time I read a Christine Feehan book was at the library, hiding xD I was too shy to buy a romance book or to borrow one from the library, unless the book cover was tepid and not the steamy scenes.

I would like to add:

Juliet Marillier's Heir to Sevenwater's trilogy (2nd book is my fav of the 3)
Thorn Birds by Colleen Mccullough (unforgettable T_T)

^ LOL I know what you mean about checking them out or buying one some of them have quite the steamy covers!

I'm now on the 3rd book of the JR Ward series. I liked the first one, hated the second one, hopefully I'll like the 3rd one!

After reading all of the posts, I'm going to check out J.R. Ward & Christine Feehan

My favorite contemporary romance author is Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Some of her earliest books are not my favorite, but her more recent ones are really cute.

If you like historical romances my all-time fave is The Bride by Julie Garwood. I used to sneak my mom's books in middle/high school & that's how I found out about this one

I also like Diana Gabaldon's time-traveling Outlander series. She's up to book 7now & the main characters are pretty old, but the series is very interesting & gives lots of interesting details about what life was like at different times/places in history. I'm not sure if this counts as romance or not, but it's a good series

I've really loved Sarah Addison Allen's novels lately. "Garden Spells" is my favorite of her books.
