Need suggestions - social psychology

Does anyone have any suggestions for a social science/psychology book? I just finished Blink by Malcom Gladwell and was looking for something similar, something that provokes thought. Can anyone help?

No suggestions of books, but if you go to borders.com and find the book, they will have suggestions for other books to try. Amazon has the same thing, I think.

if you liked Blink, have you read the tipping point? frankly I found Blink a very very slow read, and the tipping point was much better.

I dont' kow if you're doing it for any particular reason or if you just like these types of books, and it may be a little off topic, But an EXCELLENT book somewhat relating to psychology is Animals in Translation by Temple Grandin. It's more than just a book about animals and animal behaviour, really. It's fascinating! I haven't read any other book for the past, i dont' know how long, I just keep reading this one. I wish everyone I know would buy it. I can't possibly say enough good about it.

ps.... It's very difficult for me to find books I can connect with. Non-fiction almost impossible sometimes, but even fiction I find it hard. From the get-go, this books just sucks you in and there are so many interesting perspectives and "wow" thoughts that I didn't want to put it down. In fact I'd find myself calling up my Best friend just to tell her what I just finished reading.

^ that sounds so interesting!

thank you all so much! I did actually really like Blink. I decided on Telling Lies by Paul Ekman, which I plan on reading soon, and The Stuff of Thought: Languange as a Window into Human Nature by Steven Pinker, which was a gift I didn't have time to read before giving. I'll try to update on both later.

good god angela,

why would you want to provoke thought? running the brain in neutral saves energy and green house gases.

Outliers is Malcolm Gladwell's more recent book and it was cool.

I also recommend "mindless eating" which is about food psychology. It was a great read! (And useful.)

If you are looking for a fictional book that provides a lot of insight and is thought-provoking, I'd like to recommend Flowers for Algernon. It is about a mentally challenged man who undergoes a procedure to become smarter. It's one of my favourite books that I recently rediscovered.

OoOO I just read Freakonomics, and thought it would also fit up on the list of books you might like. The cover shows a review from Malcolm gladwell, which shows a similarity between their approaches and styles.
