How to do an easy pompadour?

So my senior piano recital is tomorrow and since my dress is pretty simple and elegant, I'd like to have a fairly simple hairstyle to match! Some of you suggested a sleek ponytail, which I'm planning on doing, but the problem is that I have these really awkward long bangs and the lady who cuts mine is out of town this weekend...so...the only way I could think of to keep them back would be to put them in a pompadour.

I've only ever done it once and it was pretty time consuming...and it didn't look all that, well, pomp-y (pic: http://photos-692.ll.facebook.com/ph...04548_2114.jpg )

So, ladies with bangs, what are your tips/methods for getting a nice pompadour that actually looks like a pompadour? btw, this is going to be on 2nd-day hair, since mine is quite dry and is damn near impossible to wear up when I've only washed it the night before. I can always cornstarch the bangs if I need to.

Thanks!

i would def start with the bangs WET ... add product and blowdry AWAY from your face ... otherwise you might get a kink and them BACKCOMB BACKCOMB BACKCOMB all the layers you wan't to go back and leave the VERY front out (just a lil bit) and them put that over all your backcombing ... smooth so you can't see any of it ... pin and you're good to go!
