| | | So I was told this about MAC.. well I usually go get a facial and a collagen mask at a spa once a month , well I went this weekend, and the spa is owned by a dermatologist...I was chatting with her and she asked me what makeup I use, I use the MAC studiofix and a chanel liquid foundation. She told me the worst skin products are from MAC, well counting out lipglosses and eye shadows, just face stuff...
she said Lamcome, perscriptives, and anything with minerals is way better. Chanel, Dior and Laura mercier and a few other cosmetic brands she mentioned are ok, but was very serious about how bad MAC was...so I guess Im gonna make a switch...but I wont let go of their lipglosses or eyeshadows for sure!

Total BS. Next time ask her in which way better. Even better, give her my email addy. I'd like to ask her what she thinks a collagen mask does, and if she cares to explain how collagen production can be increased. I like to have a good laugh. If she has a spa and sells stuff, you can't really trust her. JMHO.

| | | All I know about MAC is that the makeup is too heavy and all the MAC makeup girls at the counter look like they had their face painted, it looks like theatre makeup to me which is I think the purpose of their makeup. So maybe that's what the concern is, it's so heavy that it would be hard to take off and will clog up pores? I would assume you don't need super heavy coverage like that unless you were trying to cover up scars? I just Bare and Everyday Minerals bc it feels better and it's a lot easier to apply IMO. |

| | | Hmmmm, I've never heard of that before. But really, if they work well for you and aren't causing any problems, then I would take what she said with a grain of salt.

| | | I used to actually use the MAC Studio Tech Powder and I find that since i have stopped using it my skin is much better. I don't have many blackheads anymore and my pores are smaller. That MAC stuff was way too heavy for me. BM is a lot better for your complexion so that lady may be right in some aspects. |

| | Every person I've talked to that works in a spa has complained about the products I use (which, by most standards, are top of the line)... It seems that they're biased against most products. Especially if they sell their own...
But I personally do find MAC studiofix (that's all I've used) to be really heavy - BM is much happier. |

I would highly recommend a big plastic tray though |

| | | I agree about the MAC studiofix thing. I tried them maybe 2 years ago. They're too heavy and I got bad breakouts. Bare Minerals is not available in Singapore so I don't get to try it, but I'm using DiorSnow right now.
As for skincare, I think I need a switch now. Have been getting small pimples around recently. |

| | | Yeah the dior's great, but color's not quite right for me now as i've been staying ourdoors alot and got a little darker, so i'm not using them now.
No Prescriptives over here too, I think I'll try Lancome soon. |

| | | just reading this for the first time... i've used prescriptives for probably 7 years now (?), but a few months ago i bought MAC studiofix to try it (though i had used the studio tech powder w/o any probs) and definitely noticed my skin broke out more. so i went back to my old faithful, prescriptives photochrome.
and to my knowledge, MAC is developed for studio make-up and photography, that is why it is SO heavy and highly pigmented.

Dip it in the mineral make up, just a little bit, use a smallish bowl to swirl the brush around in it. The mmu should almost be invisible on the brush. Apply. Repeat as often as necessary. Not messy at all!

| | | my mom has her powder and liquid makeup custom blended at prescriptives and has for years. she loves it. they don't make a good color for me, though, and she doesn't really want to pay the $60 for the custom, though I think she's going to let me get custom powder next time around.

Let us know if you get the prescriptives, I'm interested in that makeup myself |

| | | I think the studio fix is so heavy b/c it is a combo powder and foundation. I find it heavy for regular daily use unless you need the coverage. When I first bought it, the lady at the counter told me to set it with their fix+ spray. I bought that too but have hardly used it. It is nice though when to sprtiz on the face when it is hot outside but isn't really a necessity imo.
I recently bought the blot powder b/c I wanted a transparent powder and have found it to be much lighter - I put it on with a blush brush and only on the shiny spots. I haven't had any issues (knock on wood) with breaking out with this yet and I have sensitive skin. |

| | | A lot of people warn against one type of cosmetics product/brand or another because they weren't using it for the right effects. Studio Fix is full coverage matte foundation which is why it is so "heavy". If someone's looking for medium coverage foundation and compares Studio Fix versus some medium coverage foundation, then obviously MAC is going to be bad for you. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
