| | | I use the Paula's Choice cleanser for oily skin. It's okay, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again.
Previously, I used Basis all sensitive bar, which was also just okay. I love Aveda's Botanical Kinetics cleansing gel, but I think it didn't help with acne-prone skin.
So basically...I'm no help!

| | | Okay, I tried the mineral oil thing (I could NOT find any w/o fragrance...) and it actually worked pretty well! After rubbing it on and then washing w/ cetaphil my skin felt clean and not tight. I had to convince myself that my skin was actually clean because I'm so used to the wash drying it out a bit.
I have to test it out when I wear heavier eye makeup!

I think I could get unfragranced mineral oil in the pharmacy, have to try.
Keep us posted!

| | | I've been using Proactiv for the past four months or so after having tried everything else short of bar soap (Neutrogena products, Biore products, Body Shop products, Biotherm Homme, etc.). I think it's actually working pretty well, it's managed to clear up my skin. Now I'm also trying their skin whitening lotion. It that doesn't show serious signs of workage in the next month or two I'm just going to for cosmetic procedures--I want to have smooth skin, damnit! |

| | The skin whitening lotion is exactly what it sounds like! A sales associate at a local Proactiv booth recommended that I try it to fade some of the acne scarring I have on my face. So far I've only been using it for about a month so I'm really not sure how well it's working.
[Edit]
The tube says that the active ingredient is hydroquinone. |

It that doesn't show serious signs of workage in the next month or two I'm just going to for cosmetic procedures--I want to have smooth skin, damnit! | Rule No.1: if you want to achieve something, learn what actually can do that for you. Rule No.2: Learn how long it will approximately take.
No.1: You want to change your skin structure. Prescription retinoids do that. If you can't get this, Diacneal by Avene might work similarly well. Everything else is just wasted money IMO, and according to research I've done. You also need to use a great sunscreen, which needs to be stable. To learn more, go to makeupalley.com, see notepads by tetrakis and sunscreenFAQ.
No.2: it takes up to a year to achieve that. And you need to use the stuff all the time, after one year you can go into maintenance mode (two times a week) with the retinoid, but have to use sunscreen everyday, rain or shine, to avoid further UVA damage.

The tube says that the active ingredient is hydroquinone. | Acne scars will only fade if you prevent further pigmentation (again with a UVA protective, stable sunscreen).

| | | I use a Botanical Gel Cleanser and toner from Caryl Baker Visage. I don't know if you have this line in the states, but we do in Canada. I also use the Sensitive Moisturizer from Aveda. |

| | | Right now I'm using something by oil of olay, not really sure what it is, but it works fine. I have rosacea and I bought some aveeno cleanser and moisturizer for sensitive skin. It said that it was proven to reduce redness, blah, blah, blah. I used it for about 3 days and my skin hasn't looked that bad in years. I went back to my oil of olay stuff and moisturize with vitamin e cream. |

| | Wow, that's great that there's something out there that's reasonably priced for people with rocacea. My skin gets red no matter what I do with it, even if I just rinse it with water. |

| | | As long as I wash my face and moisturize every day, the redness is gone for the most part, but if I skip just one day, it starts to flare up again. And also, after I wash, before I moisturize, my skin is so dry and so tight it feels like I can't smile. It's horrible!! I've had rosacea for about 4 years now and just recently found out that there's no cure for it. FANTASTIC!! I was thinking I could just go to the derm and get a prescription to clear it up....not the case. Although I'm sure a derm could prescribe me a cleanser and moisturizer that would be better than what I'm using now. Whatever, if it's working, I'll keep using it. |

| | | Dove's Self-foaming cleanser. It was alright, I suppose. I've found that I notice clearer skin when I'm using my cousin's Clean & Clear facial wash...I may buy myself a bottle.

| | | Does anyone have any deep-cleansing / detox facial wash or scrub to recommend? I've been having breakouts recently and I think I need these, but I don't have any good ones in mind. |

| | That mega mushroom stuff is from the Dr. Weil line they carry, I've tried several products by him-good stuff, they don't carry Origins anywhere around here though . Anything from Origins is verrry good IMO. That one Charcoal mask they have is good for blemishes too, I believe |

| | | incagirl, thanks alot! That active charcoal mask sounds really good! Luckily they do have a presence in Singapore, I'll go shopping this weekend =)
I used Kose Black mask previously but it didn't get rid of the clogged pores, so its somehow useless (and extremely drying) to me. |

BHA can exfoliate inside the pore. Anything else but this or a retinoid (prescription retin-a or tazorac, or perhaps Avene's retinaldehyde products) just sits on top or exfoliates the upper layers without getting to the crap inside your pores.
